Your Coaching Purpose

December 10, 2022 by Kristoffer Thompson Leave a Comment

There’s an inspiring and heroic start to most coaching businesses.

But very quickly, coaches get discouraged…

…and they stomp on the breaks.

Only a few coaches actually ACCELERATE their progress as time goes by.

Eckart Tolle, Tony Robbins, or Bryon Katie…

…didn’t just casually stumble upon a world-changing impact.

They consciously created it, and broke through obstacles again and again.

(NOTE: If you want to learn how to start your own coaching business, then check out this webinar, called “How to Start Your Coaching Business in 30 Days“  During the webinar, I’ll cover how to get your first paid clients fast and make it feel natural for you. Click HERE now to attend the webinar.)

These coaches set themselves apart by their DRIVE.

Where does that drive come from?

Strong PURPOSE.

In fact, MULTIPLE purposes.

Most coaches get stuck due to LACK of drive.

They only have ONE (usually weak) purpose for their coaching business.

Without having multiple clear purposes for WHY you want a successful coaching business…

…you won’t have enough drive to persevere.

For instance, when I ask coaches why they want a coaching business…

…they might tell me, “to help people”.

But thousands of failing or stuck coaches really want to help people.

Wanting to help people is probably NOT enough.

What’s in it for YOU?

You gotta have something in it for YOU…

…to keep you going when times get tough in your coaching business.

You gotta have something in it for YOU…to keep you going when times get tough in your coaching business.”

Those ‘selfish’ reasons help to support and strengthen your drive, making it unstoppable.

The stone columns of the Parthenon kept it standing for over 2,500 years.

Do you think The Parthenon would still be upright if there were only a few pillars holding it up?

The Parthenon

I doubt it.

The Parthenon is held up by 69 pillars!

Imagine how successful your coaching business would be…

…if it was held up by 69 Rock-solid “Purpose Pillars!”

Take the time to clarify what your “Purpose Pillars” are.

That way your coaching business can withstand ANY challenge.

You might say, “I don’t have time to do all this soul searching, Kris.”

“I just want a paying client, thank you.”

But If you don’t take the time to build a solid foundation…

…no amount of paying clients is going to keep your business afloat.

But If you don’t take the time to build a solid foundation…no amount of paying clients is going to keep your business afloat.”

It will eventually FALL APART under the natural strain of coaching, money, and effort.

Isn’t that the lesson we learned when reading the “3 little pigs?”

2 little pigs built their houses out of wood and straw…

…because they wanted to build quickly.

(They probably thought they were too busy for anything more.)

The 3rd little pig built his house out of bricks.

Straw house & Brick house

It took him a lot longer.

While he was still building his brick house…

…the other pigs would chastise him for wasting time.

Didn’t he have a life? More important things to do??

But those 2 pigs’ flimsy wood and straw houses were eventually blown down by the big bad wolf.

Wolf blowing house down

The patient pig who built his house from bricks?

His house is as strong as ever.

Don’t you want to build your “coaching house” from bricks instead of straw?

Your “purpose pillars” are those bricks…

…and only YOU can stack them.

Your “purpose pillars” are those bricks…and only YOU can stack them.“

If you do…

…big bad wolves can’t huff and puff and blow your house down.

How do you stack those “Purpose Pillars”?

  1. Come up with MANY reasons why your business must succeed.
  2. Deeply connect to those reasons with conviction.

Doing this will take some intentional introspection.

You’ll need to schedule some time away from distractions.

Get clear on how you want your coaching business to change your life.

Imagine the ideal benefits.

How would your life be better?

How would you change lives? the world?

Visualize it all.

How would you feel if that was REAL?

Feel it fully.

Which coach do you want to be?

The “One Weak Why” Coach…

…who quits when the going gets tough?

– or –

The “Purpose Parthenon” Coach…

…who creates an unstoppable and successful coaching business.

The “Purpose Parthenon” Coach takes the time to define, connect to, AND maintain connection to their “purpose pillars.”

Doing so allows them to stay motivated in their coaching business, and successfully endure the big bad wolves:

  • Money issues
  • Client issues
  • Family problems
  • Self-Image doubts
  • Time issues
  • Failures

None of those wolves are powerful enough to stop you if you build your Purpose Pillars.

They may huff and puff…

…but your coaching business will stand strong…

…centered on your Purpose Pillars.
