There are many Neuro-Linguistic Programming or NLP life coaching techniques that provide effective ways how to become a coach who can transform someone within a single coaching session. One of my favorite NLP life coaching techniques is using post-hypnotic suggestion in the form of a story. You can become a coach who can transforms people’s lives not only during a session, but have impact that lasts over multiple situations and truly transforms who someone is using NLP life coaching techniques.
How Do You Become a Coach Who Can Reinforce the New Belief That You Helped to Create Using NLP Life Coaching Techniques?
Greg Lautenslager wrote this story about how Billy Mills used NLP to win the 10,000 meters at the Tokyo Olympics in 1964. What the world saw as an upset, Mills had been visualizing for four years. He was quoted as saying, “I visualized it hundreds and hundreds of times per day in detail to the last lap of the race. It turned out exactly as I visualized it.”
Mills had always been a good athlete, but was not always successful. At a turning point in his life, Mills came across a letter given to him by his father who died when Mills was twelve. It read: “With positive desire comes self-motivation. With self-motivation comes the will to work. With the will to work comes success. Your life is a gift from God. What you do with your life is your gift back to God. Choose your gifts wisely.” To this note Mills wrote, “Gold medal, 10,000 meter run.” Unknowingly Mills had begun using one of the most powerful NLP life coaching techniques. He had become a coach for himself.
NLP Life Coaching Techniques Made a Book Become a Coach for Billy Mills?
Mills then went to a psychology class and opened a book. It wasn’t a book on NLP life coaching techniques, but the words were powerful enough to jump out at him, “Your subconscious mind cannot tell the difference between reality or imagination. Your subconscious will react to both.” Mills read the paragraph again and again until he had memorized it. Then he began visualizing his Olympic race.
Keys to Become a Coach Starts With Understanding The Power of Visualization and Other NLP Life Coaching Techniques
Four times during the race Mills was on the verge of falling out of contention for a medal, but each time he came back because of his intense focus. Each time he fell behind, he would say over and over to himself, “One more try, one more try.” It was his way of keeping focused. The difference on the last lap was visualization. “Although I was tired and I was driving, lifting, pumping, the self-hypnosis took over,” he said. “I had visualized so powerfully for so many years. At 60 meters to go, they were still ahead of me, and I couldn’t hear anything except my heart pounding. And I knew I had won.” Mills used NLP life coaching techniques to concentrate on what was important without being distracted. He decided that he was going to come back, and he didn’t waste his energy on the negative focus. What would you give to become a coach who is able to produce those types of results for people?
