Become a Christian Certified Life Coach Through The IBCC

Many coaching professionals undoubtedly believe becoming a certified life coach is fundamental to a successful career in coaching. As certified Christian life coaches, you are in a position to coach from a biblical or Christian worldview and employ the needed tools to help make a difference in the lives of your clients.

About The IBCC

The International Board of Christian Care (IBCC) is a growing, and recognized division of the nearly 50,000- member American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC).  They are open to all qualified mental health professionals, chaplains, para-professionals, and lay counseling ministry leaders who identify themselves as Christian counselors, life coaches and crisis responders. The IBCC offers three distinct credentials through the education arm of AACC, Light University. They are Board of Christian Professional & Pastoral Counselors (BCPPC), Board of Christian Life Coaching (BCLC), and Board of Christian Crisis and Trauma Response (BCCTR).

IBCC’s Certified Life Coach Requirements

Under the IBCC’s Board of Christian Life Coaching (BCLC)’s credentialing, there are four credentials currently offered. They are the CCLC (Certified Christian Life Coach), the CACLC (Certified Advanced Christian Life Coach), the CMCLC (Certified Master Christian Life Coach), and the highest level of credentialing, the CPCLC (Certified Professional Christian Life Coach).

Below are the requirements for the different certifications:

Certified Christian Life Coach (CCLC)

Identify and practice as a Christian Coach.

Completing a minimum of 24 educational hours/CEs of specialized life coach training related to incorporating biblical principles and coaching skills with appropriate theory, knowledge professional practice.

Maintaining at least 12 CEs every two years related to incorporating biblical principles and coaching skills with appropriate theory, knowledge practice once credential is awarded.

Additional Documentation Needed:

Copies of any earned degree(s).

Copies of current, valid, and professional license(s) or coaching certifications.

Contact hours and educational documentation that demonstrate education/training incorporate biblical principles and coaching skills with appropriate theory, knowledge, and practice.

Certified Advanced Christian Life Coach (CACLC)

Identify and practice as a Christian Coach.

Completing a minimum of 36 educational hours/CEs of specialized life coach training related to the incorporation of biblical principles and coaching skills with appropriate theory, knowledge, and professional practice.

Maintaining at least 12 CEs every two years related to incorporating biblical principles and coaching skills with appropriate theory, knowledge practice once credential is awarded.

Certified Master Christian Life Coach (CMCLC)

Identify and practice as a Christian Coach.

Completion of a minimum of 60 educational hours/CEs of specialized life coach training related to the incorporation of biblical principles and coaching skills with appropriate theory, knowledge, and professional practice.

Be able to document at least one year of experience in coaching-related activities with clients or the training/equipping others on coaching topics.

Maintaining at least 12 CEs every two years related to incorporating biblical principles and coaching skills with appropriate theory, knowledge practice once credential is awarded.

Additional Supportive Documentation Needed can be found on IBCC website.

Certified Professional Christian Life Coach (CPCLC)

Identify and practice as a Christian Coach. This refers to independently practicing life coaches who incorporate biblical principles and coaching skills with appropriate theory, knowledge, and who are involved in a significant professional practice of Christian Coaching.

Completion of a minimum of 200 educational hours/CEs of specialized life coach training related to the incorporation of biblical principles and coaching skills with appropriate theory, knowledge, and professional practice.

Be able to document at least two years of experience in coaching-related activities with clients or the training/equipping others on coaching topics.

Once the credential is awarded, maintain at least 12 CEs every two years related to the incorporation of biblical principles and coaching skills with appropriate theory, knowledge, and practice.
