An industry expert with 15 years of successful experience in the Malaysian publishing industry, Jeannie Cotter has a proven ability to lead editorial teams and produce highly entertaining editorial content. Among the publications she has worked with include Reader’s Digest Asia, Kakiseni.com, Options: The Edge, Smart Investor, Top 10 of Malaysia, Top 10 of Asia, CSR Malaysia, myBatik, Only Health and Herald Malaysia.
Currently, she is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and is the editor of Calibre magazine, a monthly business lifestyle magazine published in print and distributed exclusively to 80,000 members of Public Mutual (Malaysia’s largest private unit trust company). The magazine explores social, cultural, economic, health, art, home, food and human interest issues.
Over the past 15 years, she has fostered relationships with not only writers, editors and people in the arts, but also C-Suite and senior executives for Accounting, Finance and Real Estate. Jeannie is most fulfilled when helping a fledgling editorial grow and watching publications come to a successful fruition. Her ability to nurture relationships and coach editorial teams lead to long-term solutions and success.
Jeannie began her career as an analyst programmer at a Singaporean tech start-up after graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Computing from Staffordshire University, UK in 2001. After 9 months in the company, she realized computing programming was not her passion and soon after embarked on her life calling – editorial work. During her transition from the tech to publishing world, she took up creative writing courses from University of Michigan English graduate and teacher, Nancy Strauss. She has not looked back since then and continues doing what she enjoys doing most: writing and shepherding an editorial team.
