What are some referral techniques to promote your life coaching practice? In my coaching practice, more than half of my clients came from referrals from friends, current clients, and family.

1). My Sales Team: Past And Present Clients
When your clients are satisfied and happy, it makes for good business. Good business in my experience have come mostly from referrals. Yes, referrals from both current and previous clients who have completed their coaching programs. A satisfied client becomes an advocate and salesperson for your business. They are willing to share their positive experiences with loved ones, colleagues etc. Of course, not all referrals result in clients but at least you have your clients advertising for you out there without expecting any financial compensation in return. Your job as a life coach will be to ensure that every individual referred to you is appreciated and compensated with a complimentary coaching session.
To also show your gratitude to your past and current clients, send them a thank you card, thoughtful inexpensive gifts such as mugs or stationery with your business name during holiday seasons just to appreciate them for their efforts. What one life coach I know does is follow the social media accounts of her clients. She does this mostly with her past clients; comments on their posts, share and reshare or retweet articles etc. This way, it shows how supportive you are of them and interested in things that are important to them.
2). My Sales Team: Family And Friends
Your loudest cheer leaders are your family and friends. They are your #1 advocates and willing to support your professional and personal endeavors. Your loved ones want to see you succeed at all costs and so whether you tell them or not, they are always ready to promote you. The best way to help them effectively promote your life coaching business is to try out a coaching session with them. They are your biggest critics as well as your greatest loves and they will assist you in getting your ideal clients. Coaching your friends and family is a way of introducing them to the life coaching business; thereby making them more knowledgeable and understanding of what you do for a living.
What Are Some Referral Techniques to Promote Your Life Coaching Practice?
What are some referral techniques to promote your life coaching practice? How about networking? Networking with fellow coaches and other professionals in fields like mental health, legal, nursing, education is another great way to obtain referrals. Building relationships is key to getting referrals from individuals within your networking groups. Networking groups exist online and in your local communities. Join one or more and make your presence known. Life coaches and other professionals refer people all the time. I network with mental health therapists, professional counselors, healthcare providers in my community and so there are times when my client is needing a higher level of care or a different type of professional and I end up referring them to these professionals within my network. For your referral partner/your network to effectively send people over to you, drop off your business cards, postcards, flyers in their offices for them to hand out. Always be sure to share your referral partners’ information with your clients, friends and family when necessary.
Regardless of what referral techniques you use to promote your life coaching practice, make sure you put much effort in building your relationships. When you do that, they will be willing to go the extra mile to make sure you succeed. When you do that, you will be amazed how many clients you can get from referrals alone.
