As you might imagine, personal coach certification focuses on helping an individual achieve their highest purpose and greatest satisfaction. For me it blends and then goes beyond life coaching, career coaching and business coaching. Since it begins and ends with the individual, it encompasses all aspects of the person. So while many coaches focus on a limited field like group dynamics or career planning, personal coaching is all encompassing and therein lies the potential for great impact.

So What Does It Take?

For successful personal coach certification, it takes Broad Knowledge, a Big Heart, and Hard Work. This is because personal coaches must be able to address all aspects of the client’s life – on the job and in their most private moments. They must be able to offer insights and guidance in all these areas. They must care enough to probe and appreciate and understand. They must also be prepared to help their client achieve transformation based not only on pleasure and pain, but also based on value transformation. And to achieve this level of knowledge and skill at an authentically certified level, requires dedication and a lot of hard work.

Where Can Personal Coach Certification Happen?

When you are looking for personal coach certification, this is a very important question. This is because you need to identify a program that covers the broad scope of personal coaching. Then you need to identify a serious program whose certification actually means something. Don’t expect to become a personal coach for $395, or during four intensive two-day sessions. It just isn’t going to happen. It takes time, and instruction, and a lot of coaching and being coached. You need to be trained in accountability, strategy and assessments skills. And you need training in the areas of business, relationships and life-purpose identification – among others.

Is it worth the effort? That depends. But if you measure your worth by the positive impact that you can have on others, then the answer is most certainly a resounding YES!
