How to Become a Motivational Coach Who Has What it Takes to Survive in Any Economy: Free Coach Training From The Survivors

February 11, 2009 by Jeffrey T. Sooey 3 Comments

Newsweek just published an amazing article that could have just as easily been titled Free Coach Training – Learn How to Become a Motivational Coach from the Experts. No, Newsweek is not going into the free coach training business. I’m referring to the February 2, 2009 issue titled, “What it Takes to Survive – Why some people walk away from a plane crash or thrive after a job loss, while others don’t stand a chance.” And what we can learn from this article is how to become motivational coach who can survive this economy.

Why do some people survive when the odds outweigh them? And why do others perish when it doesn’t make sense? Newsweek author Ben Sherwood, refers to a “survivors IQ.”

Do you know how to become a motivational coach who recognizes how different people react in an emergency or crisis?

There are 3 types of people:

  1. The top 10% are the leaders who will remain calm and see opportunities.

  2. Most of us, approximately 80%, will feel numb and experience tunnel vision. We won’t be able to think straight, and our hearts will start racing. This is a “fight or flight” response, which is reactive. They key to survival is to recover as soon as possible so you can figure out the best strategy.

  3. The other 10% is the group who panics and does the wrong thing.

Which group do you want to be in? Believe it or not, you can choose. The research out there says that attitude is 90% of what happens to you in your life. This shouldn’t be a surprise to coaches. It’s something we should already be living as people who know how to become a motivational coach.

What some people call “luck” in relationship to surviving crisis or disasters is actually a state of mind.

What do the survivors do? And do you know how to become a motivational coach for people who want to learn how to survive…not just this economy, but whatever crises they come up against?

Free Coach Training to Prepare You To Handle Your (and Your Clients’) Inevitable Crisis:

Free coach training tip #1: Survivors have a more relaxed attitude about life, and are more aware of their surroundings. They are more open to unexpected possibilities which allow them to see opportunities that others may not recognize. Survivors often maintain an extensive social network, and anticipating seeing loved ones again often gets them through extreme situations.

Free coach training tip #2: Survivors listen to their instincts and make good decisions without really knowing why. Those who consider themselves “unlucky” tend to make unsuccessful decisions and trust the wrong people. In general survivors’ instincts pay off; unlike those people who ignore their gut feelings and regret their decisions.

Free coach training tip #3: Survivors persevere in the face of failure and believe that even in a tragedy, life will work out for them.

Free coach training tip #4: Survivors are able to turn bad luck into good fortune. This skill is considered the best predictor for survival.

These traits can be learned, especially with professional support from someone who knows how to become a motivational coach for people looking to survive and even thrive regardless of circumstances. By coaching people to take care of themselves, see a broader view of their world, and learn to become more optimistic, you can make a tremendous impact on the world.

You said it so well. I have always said that every setback carries with it its own sets of great opportunities. We only need to be brave enough to seize them. We must always persevere in the face of adversities because they may be our hidden treasures.

I have to agree with this one. Survival & being successful in life in general begins with the attitudes & mindset that we have. If we are positive & can see through all the “junk”, then there’s no reason why we won’t come out ahead, if we ever experience a “plane crash” in life!
