The Five Keys for Learning How to Become a Job Coach

Coaching Training Tip #1:  Find a mentor.  Someone you respect and can model yourself after.  Someone who wants to take you on as a protégé .  A mentor is someone who is doing what you want to be doing and is willing to guide you on your quest to find out how to become a job coach.

Coach Training Tip #2:  Find  a coach. Preferably someone that you are paying, even if it’s only a small amount.  You need to walk your talk, and show that you believe paying for coaching is going to more than pay for itself in the results you are getting.  And let’s be honest, if you’re not paying for coaching what usually happens is that neither of you is as fully committed to the process as when there is cash on the line.

Coach Training Tip #3: Tap into the Power of an Empowering Peer Group. Mastermind groups are just one way of meeting on a regular basis with your peer group.  It’s a way of holding each other accountable to your goals and activities, and providing resources for each other.

Coach Training Tip #4:  Develop a support team. Delegate anything outside of your genius, which is anything that robs you of your energy.  Hire someone.  Or help someone else by trading time so each of you does what you are best at if you can’t afford to hire someone.  Minimize the friction in your life so you can focus on how to become a job coach.

Coach Training Tip #5:  Find a protégé. Pay it forward.  No matter where you are in your quest of how to become a job coach, you can mentor someone in something.  By becoming a mentor, you step into the role of making a contribution to the world.  And there is a whole different feeling between selflessly helping someone without wishing they were a paying client.

Coach Training Tip #6:  Assemble your own personal board of directors. These are highly respected experts in their field.  These are specialists who will help you with the details of how to become a job coach.  This group may include people such as an accountant, financial advisor, and someone to provide technical support.
