Starting a health coach business is a good idea because the health industry is booming, and with good reason. It’s a $3 trillion dollar industry and poised to grow. But it’s not just about the money. The health industry has a lot going for it, too. It’s a vast, underserved market, and will continue to grow as people become more aware of the importance of keeping their body in tip-top shape. If you’re ready to get started in the world of health coaching, then there are several steps you need to follow.

Step 1: Find your market

The first step to starting a health coaching business is to find your market. Understanding what your target audience cares about and their needs will help you better create your product or service. For example, if you want to become a health coach for people who want to lose weight, then you need to know what sorts of things your customers are interested in—are they mostly looking for information on dieting and exercise? Or would they rather work with someone who understands the food industry? Knowing these details will help you tailor your services appropriately.

Step 2: Build a platform

Once you’ve identified your target market, the next step is to build a platform. Your platform may take the form of an online blog, or something else—it doesn’t really matter, as long as it’s relevant and engages your audience. What does matter is that you create a professional-looking website, or blog, and fill it with valuable content that offers support to your readers. The goal of this step is to create an authoritative voice, which will then lead to more credibility in the industry.

Step 3: Grow your audience

One of the most important things you can do to grow your business is to build your audience. The more people know about you and what you stand for, the more likely they’ll buy from you. The best way to build your audience is by establishing a strong digital presence. You want people to know who you are, what your company does and where it’s at. If people can find you easily on Google or other search engines, then that means you’re building your digital footprint in the right direction. Another way to build your audience is through social media. 

Step 4: Make money as a health coach

Now that you’ve identified your target market and built your website, it’s time to start making money! For most people, the number one way of making money as a health coach is through coaching sessions. 

You need to be strategic in your pricing structure, though. It can be tempting to charge $100 per session just because you have the skills and expertise to do so. But if you price too high, then you’ll limit the number of clients who will be able to afford your services. Instead, consider charging a low introductory rate for a few sessions when you’re just starting out and then increasing the price as the client gets more engaged with your work. This way, you won’t limit your clientele by pricing yourself out of their reach. 

As an alternative option to coaching sessions, many coaches choose to offer virtual coaching sessions instead. This means they would use Skype or FaceTime for their consultations instead of meeting with clients in-person. Virtual coaching is more affordable for clients on a budget, but it does come with some tradeoffs: for example, it requires people to have Internet access at all times during the day since Skype or FaceTime are only accessible through Internet connections and are not available as phone applications as they are offered by phone companies like Verizon or T-Mobile. 

There are other ways to make money as a health coach too! Some coaches will offer teleclasses where they teach about health topics related to their niche.
