YouTube Executive Coaching For Beginners

March 21, 2014 by Fred Phillips 2 Comments

Is YouTube executive coaching a good idea for executive coaches? What exactly is YouTube executive coaching? And what is an executive coach, anyway?

What is an Executive Coach?

Over half the organizations in the United States currently use or have used an executive coach in the past. They aren’t consultants and they certainly aren’t therapists. But, they certainly can do wonders for a business.

Executive coaches:

  •  Assess
  •  Set goals
  •  Develop a coaching plan
  •  Work with manger/owner/ HR department to gain support for their changes
  •  Implement changes
  •  Measure and assess

If this is what you do, if you make your living as an executive coach, and aren’t using the power of YouTube to create name recognition and spread your gospel of coaching, the time is right for you to get on board.

Why YouTube?

YouTube is great for finding music, information, and humorous videos, and it is now a great place for a coach to create an additional revenue stream. YouTube now charges viewers a few bucks per month to have access to premium channels. Content creators will split this revenue with Google (YouTube’s owners). Developers of instructional content, such as coaches, may be able to use YouTube to target specific information to clients and potential clients.

Even if you don’t set up a premium channel, it stills serves as a great tool for coaches. You can upload videos with valuable content for clients and other seeking out information on executive coaching.

YouTube Executive Coaching For Beginners

You are an executive coach, you have a small client base, perhaps a few companies have hired you over the years, but you are still struggling to make your move to the big time of executive coaching. How can YouTube help you make this move? YouTube:

  • Provides some name recognition. More and more people will see your smiling face and hear about your coaching skills as you load more content on to YouTube.
  •  Allows you to offer free additional information to your clients. In between sessions, they can access more of your coaching in the form of videos.
  •  Allows you to offer “samples” of you coaching ability to potential clients.
  •  Allows you to create a premium channel and charge monthly subscriptions prices.

How to Be Successful on YouTube

The only way to gain name recognition and more clients from your YouTube executive coaching videos is to offer great content. Without great content, no one will come back to your videos over and over again. Certainly, no one will pay for your channel if your content is lacking.

How to Offer Great Content on Your YouTube Executive Coaching Channel

YouTube Executive coaching requires great content, but how do you know what is great content and what will help you earn more business for your coaching practice? Use these three tips to help you upload interesting and informative content.

  1. Give them something of value. Teach them something. Give them a coaching tip; something you would give in a paid session. If they don’t see value in your YouTube executive coaching videos, they won’t believe you can offer them value in a paid session.
  2. It is important to upload well-made videos. The videos do not need to be professionally done and worthy of an Oscar, but the sound quality needs to be good, the images clear, and the subject interesting. Clear and concise are the keys to making good videos.
  3. Use clients in your videos. Nothing attracts new clients like old clients talking about how you helped them achieve their goals.
  4. Make sure someone sees your YouTube executive coach videos. No matter how wonderful you make your videos, they won’t do a damn thing if no one sees them. You must market your videos and drive traffic to them.
  5. Make them immediately interesting. Studies have shown that viewers decide within the first fifteen seconds whether they will continue watching or not. Build curiosity or trust within the first fifteen seconds or they won’t be watching!
