November 9, 2016 by Fred Phillips 2 Comments

There are many reasons to become a life coach. There are many great reasons to switch careers, get trained and certified, and become a life coach. So, if you’ve been thinking about finding a new career, perhaps some of these reasons will lead you to become a life coach.

Top 9 Reasons to Become a Life Coach

  1. The first reason to become a life coach is the industry itself. Life coaching, and coaching in general is a growing industry. More and more people are recognizing the value of personal life coaching.
  2. There are many different niches or specialties within the industry. You can select different niches to fit your passions or fit the needs of the market.
  3. You can start part time or full time. You don’t have to quit your current job or career at first. Because it takes time to build up a client base, and an income, you can start coaching on the side until you’ve built up your reputation, gained some experience, and landed some clients.
  4. You can work flexible hours. Even when you go full time, if you own your own practice, you can set your own hours and fit your schedule to meet your family and leisure needs. You have control over when you meet with clients and when you schedule your sessions though you will need to cater to their needs at times.
  5. You don’t have to spend much money to get started. You should take a coaching program and get certified. You may need a business license and you might want to rent an office. But the overhead is low because there is no inventory or large capital expenditures needed to start your business
  6. You are your own boss. Yeah! Well, being your own boss comes with some extra work and responsibility, it also means you make the decisions and no one gets to tell you what to do! No list of reasons to become a life coach is complete without this one.
  7. You get the chance to make a good income. Though coaches usually take time to build up their client base and income, many coaches make a good living.
  8. You can create additional streams of income that fit with your coaching business. You can write a book, create DVDs, run a seminar or workshop, or become a recognized expert in a niche within the life coaching field. All these additional streams of income can boost your coaching business and your success and is one of the best reasons to become a life coach.
  9. You get to work on yourself while working to help others. Just being in the life coaching industry helps you become better at identifying goals, overcoming obstacles, and creating plans to reach those goals.

One More Reason to Consider Life Coaching

One reason not listed is perhaps one of the most motivating reasons to become a life coach for many coaches – you bring joy to others. By helping clients reach their goals and dreams, you are helping them achieve a new level of happiness, and what is better than bringing joy to others?

    Great article!
Coaching is a growing industry and more people are becoming aware of and recognizing the value of personal and professional life coaching but there is still room to grow. Having said that, there is still plenty of room for the coaching industry to grow. It’s not a saturated field.
