The Wiley-Blackwell Handbook of the Psychology of Coaching and Mentoring

November 18, 2014 by Fred Phillips 2 Comments

The Wiley-Blackwell Handbook of the Psychology of Coaching and Mentoring provides an in-depth competencies-based approach to the fields of coaching and mentoring. It’s a go-to book for anyone in the coaching industry…or anyone interested in the coaching industry.

The Wiley-Blackwell Handbook of the Psychology of Coaching and Mentoring

It’s tough for busy coaches to keep up with the ever-evolving world of coaching. Most coaches don’t have time to seek out and peruse scholarly articles on various topics within the coaching industry. For coaches who don’t have the time or resources to keep current with the latest research, the Wiley-Blackwell Handbook of the Psychology of Coaching and Mentoring provides cutting edge information in one convenient place. It’s even available for your e-book reader so you can carry it around when you travel.

With this book, coaches can improve their practice, build their clientele, and use cutting-edge skills and knowledge to find outcomes for their clients. The Wiley-Blackwell Handbook of the Psychology of Coaching and Mentoring details psychological principles and practices as they apply to a diverse range of current coaching skills and strategies.

One Coaching Book is All You Need

The Wiley-Blackwell Handbook of the Psychology of Coaching and Mentoring contains over 550 pages of pertinent and useful information for working coaches. Various chapters cover ethics, theoretical models, efficacy, and emerging fields such as virtual coaching, neuroscience, and mindfulness. It also covers gender issues, team coaching, mentoring strategies for organizations, and behavioral coaching. Most of the important issues in the coaching field can be found in this book.

Coaching is International

We live in truly global times and on a flattened Earth. The coaching profession is expanding across the globe, but much of the literature in the coaching field focuses on one specific country or continent. The editors of this tome have made an effort to create a more international feel. They used contributors from around the world and encouraged them to focus on international issues.

What’s Good for the Student is Good For the Coach

Though the editors believe they have created this book with a focus toward the student and researcher, it is just as relevant for the coach. Just as every doctor has a copy of the Physician’s Desk Reference somewhere in their office, every coach should have a copy of the Wiley-Blackwell Handbook of the Psychology of Coaching and Mentoring. Or, have several Wiley-Blackwell handbooks of the Psychology of Coaching and Mentoring. Just in case you want to lend one out to one of your peers in the industry.

This handbook is published by Wiley-Blackwell, an international technical, scientific, medical, and scholarly publisher. They publish more than 1,500 new books and 1,500 peer-reviewed journals each year. The publish books of communication, world history, group psychotherapy, practical theology, and many other diverse subjects.

The book isn’t cheap – it sells for over $160. But, when you think about all the information between its covers, that price is a bargain. Coaching is a difficult field as it is constantly evolving. The more you know and the more you continue to learn, the better you will be at coaching your clients. As technology continues to push rapid change in our world, all fields are influenced – coaching is no exception.

You need information and you don’t always have the time to spend searching professional journals and online scholarly articles. You want something convenient. You want something readily available at your fingertips. You want this book.

There is no other book quite like the Wiley-Blackwell Handbook of the Psychology of Coaching and Mentoring, and it deserves a place on your office bookshelf.

Hope you took some great value out of this post today! I’d love to hear your feedback, so make sure you leave a comment with your thoughts or questions. And also, you can click on the Twitter button below to retweet this article… Thank you!
