You’ve just earned a business coaching certification – now what? You probably want to start your coaching practice and get going on your career as a coach. You want to put your business coaching certification to good use!

Before You Begin a Business Coaching Business
But, before you begin, there are a few steps to take. You have to actually start your business, and starting a business means you have to take action on a few important items.
- Determine what local requirements are needed to start and operate a business in your area, and then comply with those requirements.
- Determine if you want to start out part-time or full-time (probably depends on if you still have a job)
- Create a business plan – this will include all the details on your business set up, operations, and goals.
- Decide what type of clients you want to work with – define your niche.
- Develop a marketing plan to attract clients to your new business.
- Name your business.
You Have a Business Coaching Certification – Now You Need a Business Name
At first, naming your business might seem like a simple, trivial step….but remember, this is the name that will identify and brand you for any and all potential clients.
With business coach certification in hand and a burning desire to start helping people and making money, here are a few considerations when naming your coaching business:
- Think of something that tells potential customers what you do.
- Think of a name that make your business sounds top-of-the-line.
- Check to see if you can purchase a domain name for your business name.
- Do a keyword search on Google on any potential names.
- Do a fictitious business name search or corporation search in your area or state
- Think about your name as your brand and determine if this is how you want to be thought of as you move forward with your coaching career.
A Business Name Is as Important as a Coaching Certification
If you think that your business name is as important as your business coaching certification, then you will force yourself to spend some time researching a name and naming your business. You spent may hours training, studying, and working toward your certification, so you know you need to put that same level of patience and hard work toward the naming of your business.
Your Business Name is Your Business
A business name has always been important, but it is even more important in the 21st century. With the ability to brand yourself across all types of media – print, video, radio, and of course, the Internet, you must remain consistent. People must recognize your brand and name, and associate it with your business no matter where they see it – in the newspaper, on Facebook, on the bookshelves at the chain bookstore, on Twitter, on YouTube, or anywhere else you may elect to advertise.
So, once you’ve earned a business coaching certification, and stand on the precipice on a new business coaching career, select your name wisely – it can often make or break you!

After getting a coaching certificate, finding a name for your business is truly important. I do agree since I have always picked the name of my business carefully and there is always a meaning to it.
My advice is to pick a name that will give “instant recall” or one that is easily remembered or hard to forget! Remember, choose a name that will be your “brand”. Good!!
