Got the Coaching Passion?

Passion. Many people work in jobs or careers for which they have no passion. It is unfortunately one of the problems of our society. People have to eat, pay for shelter, and survive – for this they need money. To get money, one has to work. Many people take missteps along the way and end up stuck in a career or a job that is dull, boring, repetitive, and excruciatingly unrewarding (except for the monetary compensation). However, most people who go into the coaching field enjoy their work because it has many rewards beyond the financial compensation. However, to be a great coach, even a good coach, requires passion. You must have a passion for helping others achieve success.

Dedication equals Success

Dedication. Another key trait for success coach success is dedication. The desire to be good at your craft (and coaching is a craft) requires a focused dedication to becoming the best you can be. Being a good coach means you are dedicated to continuing your education, pursuing additional certifications, learning from peers and mentors, exploring new skills, exercises, theories, and knowledge. Without dedication to the craft of coaching, you certainly won’t be a success.

Good Old-fashioned Work Ethic

Work. Yes, you must have good old-fashioned work ethic – that trait your grandparents used to talk about. Back in my day, a strong work ethic was important. Kids these days! Well, the work ethic is alive and well in the coaching field. Coaches are determined to help their clients to the best of their abilities; this may mean long hours, extensive research, brainstorming with other coaches, and a willingness to search high and low for answers. In other words – work ethic. Your grandparents should not be concerned – work ethic still exists. For success coach success, it is absolutely essential.

Communication is the Key.

Communication. To be a good coach you either need good communication skills or you need to be willing to learn them. Communication skills are essential in the coaching profession. Have them or learn them – they are a must for any success coaching success.

You Can’t Fake Desire

Desire. When talking about desire in the coaching field, it refers to two different types. The first is the intense, burning desire to help your clients achieve their goals, dreams, and objectives. The second is the desire to sell and promote yourself. Yes, this refers to the necessary evil that we call marketing.

There they are – the five magic words: passion, dedication, work, communication, and desire. For success coach success, these five magic words are a definite must.
