The Key to Survival is Treating Your Life Coaching Business Like a Business

The most dangerous thing to your life coaching business is lack of cash.  You need to have at least as much cash coming in as going out.  That means be savvy.  Don’t overspend or “invest” in anything that doesn’t make your either make your life simpler or gives you a return on your investment of at least threefold.   Sure there are start up costs in any business, but in life coaching those hard costs are minimal.  You need a phone, computer, and internet connection.

Treat your business like a job.  Show up to work on time, keep a schedule, and get your work done.  Too many coaches value their flexible lifestyle to the extent that they actually work very few hours.  Work is revenue producing activity such as prospecting, marketing, and creating products.   Coaching is actually the fun part, but to get there you’ll have to put in the hours to find clients.

How often have you come up against obstacle after obstacle and decided that it was a “sign” that you should quit coaching?  Obstacles are gifts.  They allow you to re-commit to your goal.  Get excited when you come across obstacles; it’s a sign you are on the right path.  If the path to success was easy, everyone would be there.
