Will your life coaching business survive the first year?  Only about 5% of businesses survive the first year.  A business, coaching or otherwise, is most likely to fail due to under capitalization.  So unless you want to spend the rest of your life working for someone else, you need to be savvy.  A lot of coaches spend precious time and money choosing the “right” look for their collateral materials, which is the kiss of death.

Your Life Coaching Business Prospects Don’t Care About You

They don’t care about your logo.  They don’t care about your picture.  They don’t care about the design of your site.  They don’t care about your life coaching business.

The Only Thing People Care About is Getting What They Need

You have only a matter of seconds from the time someone lands on your page before they decide to stay or go.  A logo may get them to stay if they recognize it, but chances are that if you are just starting out your logo will not be familiar.  In this case, it is a distraction from their intent: to find what they need.

Take a look at this blog, for example.  There are no bios or pictures.  The only thing that was designed was the masthead, which really doesn’t add value.  The value is in plain text on a white background.

You want to make sure that your prospective life coaching business clients find what they need immediately upon landing.  They don’t need to know about you, they need to know if you have the solution that fits their needs.  This is one of the reasons why it is so important to choose a niche.  You can’t attract everyone, but by becoming a specialist you will have the opportunity to help more people than you can handle by yourself.
