Less Clients For a Higher Salary for Life Coach

What is an average salary for life coach? Hell, who cares about average – what is a great salary for life coach? It is important to consider that coaching salaries vary wildly and it is difficult to determine an average. Many online sites about coaching peg an average life coaching fee at $100- $200 per hour, with experienced and skilled coaches charging $250 up to $600 per hour.

According to a Sherpa Executive Coaching Survey that looked at international coaching salaries, here are a few average coaching fees:

  • Executive coaches – $325 per hour.
  • Business coaches – $235 per hour.
  • Life coaches – $160 per hour.

As you can see, salaries for life coaches are less than executive and business coaches, but it can be assumed that becoming an executive coach takes more experience and education. Executive coaches also work with people who have more money to spend; life coaches work with people from all demographics, all walks of life, and all income categories.

How to Get the Best Salary for Life Coach

According to the Sherpa study, coaches average between 6 and 6.5 clients each week. It seems that one way to get the best salary is to have the fewest clients. Huh? That doesn’t seem to make sense, does it? However, clients who only have a few clients per week can be at their absolute best for each and every hour with each and every client. A life coach can provide incredible service and achieve amazing results when their concentration, focus, and passion is directed at a smaller client base. When you achieve amazing results, your reputation will be known far and wide and clients will pay more per hour to become your clients. Sounds simple, right?

Well, it is not simple, but it is definitely possible. The salary for a life coach will not be that great at the beginning. Your client base will need to be larger because your fees will have to be lower – you will need to have highly competitive rates to attract potential clients to walk through your office door, call your office, or contact you through your website. Once you have built up a client base and proven your worth as a life coach, you will be able to get more with less ( earn higher fees and more salary with less clients).

With some years of experience, some incredible results behind you, and an awesome reputation, you might be one of those coaches who can work at home in your pajamas, coaching people on the phone, via e-mail, or through webinars. You can write books, create DVDs, and explore alternative passive income streams. That is when your salary for life coach explodes into the stratosphere. You will be charging more than $160 per hour, you will be a respected name in the field, and you may be able to stay home and work in your underwear ( of course, if you do that, don’t tell your clients!).
