How to Find the Right Business Coach Training

Business Coaching is Big Business

Business coaching has exploded over the past couple decades. The digital age had made it easier to get into coaching. What does anyone need to start? Just a website, it seems. The field was filled with imminently qualified business coaches, but the ease of becoming a coach has led to a rush of new coaches who lack the qualifications or skills to be a good business coach.

Business Coaching is Not Dead

A year ago, Inc. ran an article titled: Why Business Coaching is Dead (And What Will Replace It). The article doesn’t really consider business coaching to be dead; instead, they say the way to survive is to specialize. So, business coaching is alive and well, but you need more expertise and specialization. That means business coach training is more important than ever!

How to Find the Right Business Coach Training

There are hundreds of coach training programs in the United States – it can be difficult to find the one that fits your needs. Here are a few guidelines to getting the right business coach training so you can launch your career and never look back!

  • Know your own goals first. What do you want out of a career? More money? Part-time work? Help others? Become a recognized expert?
  • Know how you learn best. Do you learn best at your own pace? Do you learn best in a classroom setting? Do you learn best when pushed to finish? Do you learn best from a mentor?
  • What type of clients do you want to work with? Since you are planning to be a business coach, you should look for programs that specialize in business coaching. Do you want to work with small businesses? Large corporations? Knowing how you want to specialize will help you select the right business coaching training.
  • Find one that offers certification. It isn’t absolutely essential to be certified, but in a competitive industry like coaching, it sure helps!
  • Make sure the business coach training fits your needs – your budget, schedule, learning style, and more.
  • Look for the program’s reputation. Check online for reviews and testimonials. Call the program and ask any questions you may have and assess their level of responsiveness.
  • If you have never run a business, you might want to find a coaching program that offers courses in business operations or management.
  • If you have a question, ask it. If you have a doubt, research it. If you still have a doubt, move on to the next one.

Selecting a business coach training program is the first step in your career as a business coach. Making the wrong choice may get you started on the wrong foot. Take your time, do your homework, and make a wise decision. Your career may depend on it!

Business coach training is something worth considering. I thought that being a business coach wasn’t all that interesting, I was mistaken. Great job with the blog post.
