Finding the Best Business Coaching Programs

Finding the best business coaching programs is at best, an art instead of a science, and at worst, purely a crapshoot. But, you can put the odds in your favor and make it a bit more scientific by doing your research.

What’s the Best Business Coaching Program in the World?

There is no definitive answer to this question. There is a huge selection of coaching programs available in old school classroom form or online. One person’s right answer may be another person’s wrong answer – what works for one person may not work for the next person.

How to Find the Best Business Coaching Programs

There are many ways to help you find the best program for your needs. To be the best business coach you can be, you need a comprehensive program that fits your budget, schedule, and learning style.

Here are a few ways to make sure you make the most advantageous decision when searching for the best business coaching programs:

  • Do your homework! As previously mentioned, you want to find a program that fits all your needs – schedule, learning style, budget, and subject matter (business coaching).
  • Your homework should also investigate the program’s reputation. You want to make sure that the program has a good reputation and has positive testimonials.
  • Make sure the program is accredited by a governing body within the coaching industry. The International Coach Federation (ICF) is considered the gold standard in the industry.
  • Read some books on business coaching. Get on Amazon and find a few well-reviewed books on business coaching before you jump in with both feet. This will give you an idea of what you need to know before you start a coaching practice and will help you sift through the best business coaching programs to find the right one for your needs.
  • Decide between a three-day or weekend program or a longer, more comprehensive program. The longer programs obviously cost more money, but they also offer more training and information.
  • Call the program and ask as many questions as possible. If you can’t call, send your questions through email. You can evaluate the customer service (how fast they respond and the quality of their answers), and the design of their program.
  • Look for mentor coaching. Do they offer this? Does it matter to you? Mentor coaching has significant value in helping you learn more about the finer points of coaching.

Coaches are Born and Made

Before you jump into the coaching field, it’s best to do a little self-analysis. Are you born to be a coach? Do you enjoy helping others? Do you have a passion for finding solutions? Do you have superior communication skills? Will you pursue continuing education? There is plenty of good information about the traits and attributes needed to be a good coach.

If you think coaching is right for you, and that you were born to be a coach, sorting through the best business coaching programs and finding the ideal one for your needs, will make you the best business coach you can be.
