Health coach training requires a student to learn about the workings of the body, nutrition, fitness weight loss, and all aspects related to health. However, do you need to be buffed out to start health coach training? Do muscles, six-pack abs, and lean sinewy limbs count on your way to becoming a health coach?
If you prefer eating potato chips to salads, if you consider getting out of your recliner to be a strenuous exercise, if you think changing the channel on the remote is a physical activity, than health coaching probably isn’t the wisest career choice for you. However, if you have a desire to live a healthy lifestyle, enjoy learning about healthy foods, love exercise and fitness, and enjoy being around people who place, or are trying to learn how to place health as a priority, than health coaching just might be a viable and rewarding gig for you.
Extensive health coach training is your portal into the world of health or wellness coaching, but you don’t have to be a lean, mean coaching machine to start. If you have the passion for coaching, the dedication to health and fitness, and a desire to help others find a pathway to health and wellness, than you can begin your health coach training without having the body of Adonis or the sexy shape of a super-model.
Get in Shape Before You Start Health Coach Training!
However, trainers with big guts, or wimpy arms, or saggy butts, will probably not get too many clients, so it is important to realize that appearances do count. If you show up at a training session, or if a client walks into your office, and you look like Santa Claus without the red suit, clients may question your ability to coach. When staring a health or wellness coach program, you should also start hitting the gym and getting your body in the best shape it can be. Knowledge, personality, skill, and customer service count, but it is impossible to discount the effect appearance has on clients.
Healthy Coach Training For the Mind and Body
It works wonders to combine your health coach education with some healthy coach training – get your butt in gear and workout, eat right, and learn all you can about being as healthy as possible. Combine this with all the knowledge you will absorb from your classes, your teachers, and your mentor coaches, and you will be ready to face the world and start marketing for clients. Get clients by being a role model for them – live what you teach, be what you preach!
A career in health coaching is not only rewarding, dynamic, and profitable, it also allows you to be involved in a healthy workplace environment. It sure beats lunchtime martinis, office cubicles, angry bosses, and hour after hour of mind-numbing and health deteriorating computer work. Get involved with health coaching and start your health coach training, but remember to also start training your body while you are training your mind. You don’t need to be the most fit guy or gal on the planet to be a health coach, but you can’t be a couch potato with a beer gut and flabby arms and make it in the industry.
