What is transformational life coaching? Is it something you can do? Can you transform your life coaching practice and become a transformational life coach?
What is a Transformational Coach?
Transformational coaching is very similar to life coaching; the basis for transformational coaching is personal life coaching. However, there are some differences.
Life coaching focuses on helping people change the way they act. It also helps people identify and clarify goals, overcome obstacles, and create strategic plans to achieve their goals.
Transformational coaching helps individuals change the way they view themselves. This type of coaching works with self-image, self-awareness, self-worth, and self-confidence. There is plenty of overlap between the two types of coaching, but transformational life coaching goes the extra mile beyond traditional life coaching to work holistically with self-perception.
Help Clients Be the Change
Be the change you want to see in the world.
That’s an expression often used about aligning your life with how you want the world to work. For example, if you decry the state of our environment, the first place to start is to be as environmentally conscious as possible. If you wish people acted nicer on social media, make sure you make sufficient changes in your social media use before you complain about others.
Walk the walk before you talk the talk!
What is Transformational Life Coaching?
Transformational life coaching is about helping clients be the change they want to see in their lives. It’s about going deeper than regular life coaching. Delving deeper into the psyche of the client to bring about improvements in self-perception and self-worth. These improvements will ultimately result in the enhancement of self-confidence. An improved self confidence will be a powerful catalyst for clients becoming the change they want to see!
One of the main differences between transformational life coaching and life coaching in general is the difference between doing and being.
Life coaching often focuses on doing. Do this and create goals. Do that and build a strategic plan to reach those goals. Do something else to overcome those obstacles preventing you from realizing goals.
A transformational coach will help client with the being part of change. Altering the being of a client will be truly transformational because it filters through every aspect of the client’s life. It is holistic in nature and comprehensive in scope.
Be a Transformational Coach and Change the World
Transformational coaching is about making what seemed impossible, possible. It is about changing perception – allowing the client to focus on what is possible and not fixate on what is impossible. It helps clients reach outside their given reality and create a new reality – one with more possibilities.
The world is filled with parameters, and there are some parameters which can’t be escaped. However, most people fit themselves in a box and often fail to look beyond that box. That box is usually defined by falsely perceived parameters, and the job of a transformational coach is to help the client look outside that box. That is true transformation!
