YWCA Life Skills Coaching

June 27, 2014 by Fred Phillips 2 Comments

The primary function of YWCA Life Skills coaching is to help participants develop and use balanced self-determined behavior. This type of behavior occurs when one makes a conscious choice by considering the situation, personal needs, the needs of others, and the potential consequences of that choice.

As a coach, you understand how important behavior modification is to your success. Whether you are a life coach, wellness coach, career coach, or some other type of coach, behavior modification is crucial to the success of your clients and to your coaching career. If you are thinking of coaching in groups, you might want to check out this YWCA program.

With the YWCA life skills coach training program, coaches can learn to present and teach this type of behavior modification as part of their coaching practice. They can improve their leadership and motivations skills to facilitate success with their clients.

What is the YWCA?

The YWCA stands for the Young Women’s Christian Association; it began in the mid-1800s in the midst of the Industrial Revolution in England. It was created to be a spiritual and social support system for young women. The YWCA has spread throughout the United States and the world and serves over two million women and girls around the globe. The YWCA also operates many hostels and recreational facilities around the world.

What is YWCA Life Skills Coaching?

The Life Skills Coach Certificate training program is designed for group leaders, coaches and facilitators who deliver adult training programs. If you work with groups, it provides the needed skills and information that will help make your coaching successful.

The YWCA Life Skills Coaching program basically consists of two parts

  1. The Foundations of Life Skills Coaching. This part of the course helps participants understand and improve their learning and presentations skills. It also helps them understand the stages of group development and the dynamics of group needs.
  2. The Dynamics of Life Skills Coaching. This part of the program provides skills to deal with disruptive group behavior and facilitate group dynamics. It also helps to build confidence as a group leader. In the program, you can learn how to identify the impact of behavior in groups and the appropriate interventions for challenging disruptive behavior.

Who is the YWCA Life Skills Coaching Program For?

It is perfect for group leaders who work in career counseling, social services, mental health, human resources, education, consulting, or training. It is also good for coaches who may work with groups in seminars or other group venues.

The YWCA Life Skills Coaching program is for anyone who wants to boost their creativity when providing workshops or seminars. It is also for any coach who wants to understand the reasons behind uneven participation in group settings, and for coaches who want to get more balanced participation and consequently, more balanced success in the group.

Basically, if you are a coach and currently do some of your coaching in groups, or are thinking of expanding your services to include seminars or group coaching, the YWCA Life Skills Coaching training program is right for you. You will come out of it more self-aware, more prepared, and better able to successfully coach groups.

I have been hearing wonderful things about the YWCA and their Life Skills Coching program. I have been looking for a program where I can develop my coaching skills for coaching groups and speaking in front of large venues. Sounds like I have found what I have been looking for.
