The 4 Components of Transformation Leadership

Idealized Influence. Here is where the coach can serve as a role model for clients and followers. This is where the coach talks the talk, walks the walk, and “walks the talk.” This is an important part of a coach’s charisma.

Inspirational Motivation. To be a great coach, you must have the ability to inspire and motivate. This ability comes from both talent and learned skill. This is the other important component of a coach’s charisma. Here is where the coach provides context and meaning to the session and the goals a client is trying to achieve.

Individualized Consideration. This is the part of transformation leadership where the coach plays special attention to the problems, needs, and dreams of each individual client. This is where active listening and the ability to center a session around inquiry truly comes in to play. This personal attention to each and every client is what brings out the best in everyone – coaches and clients!

Intellectual Stimulation. This is where the coach challenges clients to maximize their creativity. It is all about innovation, modification and thinking “both inside and outside the box.” The coach must also keep the client focused on the task at hand by asking pertinent questions.

What is transformational leadership? It is coaching at its very best.

What is transformational leadership? It is all about a coach helping transform clients and taking them from where they are now to where they want to be.
