What is a certified life coach/ well, the simple and obvious answer is that it is a life coach who is certified. In some cases, the simple answer is nowhere near the truth, but in this case the simple answer is correct!

What is a Life Coach?
A life coach takes a client from where they are today to where they want to be. They focus on the present to determine desire changes and goals, and then they partner with their clients to create an action or strategic plan which will move you from now to a desired future.
Life coaching help clients overcome obstacles and explore dreams. They provide inspiration, motivation, determination, and accountability. They also focus on empowerment and encouragement. And unlike family or friends, they do all this with bias or judgment.
Is that what you do as a life coach? If not, it might be time to reevaluate your coaching skills.
What is a Certified Life Coach?
While it’s true that you don’t need certification to be a life coach, you should consider a certification before you become a coach, or at the very least, as early in your coaching career as possible. What is very true about coaching is that it has become highly competitive. Accredited training and certification will provide you with the knowledge and skills to stay competitive.
Being certified shows potential clients that you are fully involved in the profession and have taken the time to be the best coach you can be. What is a certified life coach if not a highly trained professional who has gained the knowledge and tools to help someone reach their goals and dreams.
What a Life Coach Isn’t
Life coaches aren’t therapists, counselors, or mentors. Mentors are experts in specific fields who can only help you in that specific field. They generally don’t get involved with areas outside their field of expertise. What is a certified life coach? Well, it’s not a therapist or mentor or counselor!
Therapists dig more through your past to find issues, traumas or problems that have brought you to the present; life coaches usually start with the present (though they touch on the past a bit) and look toward the future. Therapists most often work with people who need to become emotionally healthy; coaches usually work with people who have already achieved emotional health.
Counselors are different in that counseling usually involves a more hierarchal relationship. A coaching relationship is more like a partnership and focuses on the client finding their own solutions and creating their own plans (with the coach’s help, of course).
