Procrastinators don’t usually get anywhere in life. You have to take risks to get ahead. They don’t have to be big or expensive risks, but to get in the pool, you have to take the plunge…or even walk in slowly. But you have to make a decision and act!

So – it’s time to start coaching. Business is booming and you can join the party by determining if you have what it takes to become a coach.
Have a Plan and Become a Coach
You can say “start coaching business” all you want, and the more you say it, the more it sounds like a plan. But, just saying it is only motivation – it’s not the plan.
To start any business takes some thought, time, and effort. You need to formulate a plan and then follow that plan to get to your destination.
The Start Coaching Business Now Plan
Here are a few steps to take on your road to the coaching business. Each step has value and should not be skipped. Of course, you can formulate you own plan with additional steps as these are just the basic ones to give you a good start on your coaching journey.
- Self-analysis. Time to take stock of your abilities and lack of ability. What are your strengths and weaknesses? What do you do well? What do you know? What traits and attributes do you have that will serve you well as a coach? This will take some serious self-questioning and a little research on the traits needed to be a good coach.
- Create a Venn diagram of your passions, abilities, the needs of the market, and the ability of your target market to pay for the outcomes you can offer. Once again, this will take some research on the competition and the market in your area (or in the world if you are considering online coaching).
- Get trained and certified. Find a reputable and respected coaching training program that fits your needs and budget and get your certification.
That’s it! Those are the three basic steps for your Start Coaching Business Now plan. Though it’s only three steps, it will take some time, plenty of effort, and a little patience before you can chart your course toward becoming a coach.

I’ve never imagined myself to be a coach or even a leader, I was always one to follow the rules/orders of what my coach would say. But this article is really eye-opening and it has given me a lot of tips, thus it has made me think that I can be a coach myself.
It’s true. If we’re waiting until we feel ready to coach, we might wait forever. Acting is truly the key. We can dream all we want, talk about it, plan it, but until we move into action, it is what it is: just a dream.
