However, success coaching in Romania does exists, and can serve as an important vehicle to help Romania’s economy and to lift up the fortunes of the Romanian people.

Where is Romania?

If I did a version of Where’s Waldo, and pulled out a map of Europe, how many people could actually find the country of Romania? Lower your hands because I know you’re not telling the truth.

Most people just think of Romania as one of those countries which used to be behind the Iron Curtain in the old days before the Berlin Wall fell and the USSR collapsed. Though many older Americans think of Romania as part of Eastern Europe because of the cold war and the Iron Curtain, it is actually located in Central Europe geographically. So now you know – your geography lesson is over for today!

What About the Romanian Economy?

Romania emerged from communism with an obsolete industrial base and little history of economic and individual achievement. But, it has made steady, if not slow progress toward economic viability and success. In 2007, Romania joined the European Union; in 2011, they signed an agreement with the European Union/ IMF/ World Bank worth $6.6 billion to promote progress, structural reforms, and fiscal discipline. By 2013, economic growth had accelerated, driven by low inflation, a good agricultural harvest, and strong industrial exports.

So, could success coaching help the Romanian economy?

It would be nearly impossible to take the leap of faith that success coaching can help a country’s economy. However, it would also be wrong to assume that success coaching would have no effect on the ability of Romanian citizens and business people to improve their lives.

Success coaching is all about teaching the skills needed to be successful – both in life and in business. Success coaching is about giving others the tools they need to succeed. This should work in Romania just as it does in the United States.

Yes, there is an association for coaches in Romania. So, they must already be onto the fact that coaching works, whether you live in a developed country, or a developing one. The Romanian Association Association for Coaching is a professional organization that sets standards for the industry and offers a code of conduct for coaches in Romania – whether it’s life coaching, or any other type of coaching, including success coaching. Romania and the Romanian people appear ready to accept coaching as an integral part of success in life and business.

Will success coaching create an economic miracle in Romania? Probably not. But, a network of trained life, business, and success coaches will help educate the people of Romania about skills that can help then become successful in their lives and careers.

In the last two decades, Romania has made considerable progress toward the development of a market economy. But, in a world where small crises become global, continued progressed is not assured. One way to help the people survive in the 21st century is to arm them with knowledge and skills. This can be done with coaching, including success coaching. Romania is just like any other country – coaching benefits the people and in its own small way, is beneficial to the economy.
