Should I Become a Spiritual Life Coach?

July 25, 2012 by Jeannine Yoder 1 Comment

To become a spiritual life coach you must first understand what it means to be spiritual. Do you have a daily spiritual practice that is a part of your life? Does your spirit, and ability to spread spirit, reach into the minds and hearts of everyone you interact with? Are you great at helping others follow their own path? Do you believe in spirituality above all things? What else would it take beyond these natural abilities to become a spiritual life coach?

The difference between Spirit and Religion

Spirit is the principle of conscious life; animating the body or mediating between body and soul. I would say the biggest difference between being spiritual and religious lies in the uniqueness and individuality possible. There is a level of belief organized within the mind of a spiritual person. However, these beliefs are not necessarily followed or practiced by many in a group. To be spiritual you must believe there is more to you then a human body and more to existence then the reality on earth. To become a spiritual life coach you must be highly invested in a spiritual life and have dedication toward spiritual education and practice. Spirituality is open to your exploration and a personal reflection and learning process.

To be religious is to have a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects. In religion many people study and share beliefs and tradition as a whole rather then a unit. In religion you will find a set of rules, principles or leaders that are provided to guide you. Religion offers you more certainty in what to follow and expect.

Who Should Become a Spiritual Life Coach

A religious person should NOT become a spiritual life coach. A religious person CAN definitely hire a spiritual life coach. The reason being that there are many different religions and if you are religious chances are you are more educated and invested in your own beliefs. This would make it difficult to have an open mind and allow your client to choose a path of their own discovery. It would not serve your client to be invested in one strong belief. A life coaches job is to serve the client in making choices and discoveries in line with their deepest desires and purpose. You should not become a spiritual life coach if you have a strong set of religious beliefs that you are not open to challenging. You might consider becoming a spiritual Life Coach if you see truth in all religions and have the words to translate faith and tools in from each without judgement or conclusion.

What Does a Spiritual Life Coach Do?

If you become a spiritual life coach your client will be looking to you to help create more faith and consciousness in their lives. If you become a spiritual life coach you will serve your clients overall life experience by sharing spiritual tools to help them face life’s challenges with deeper connection, purpose and meaning.

Some people become a spiritual life coach because they are highly educated and experienced in a few of the following spiritual practices.

  • The Law of Attraction
  • Work with the Ego
  • Manifesting
  • Consciousness
  • Positive Affirmations
  • Energy Healing

There are many forms and ways to become a spiritual life coach. People around the world are turning to spirituality and their are many benefits to becoming a spiritual coach. The most important thing to consider when making the decision if this is the career move for you is

  1. How passionate are you about the many forms of spirituality?
  2. How much do you believe in the power of it’s effectiveness to change lives?
  3. Do you spend most of your time thinking about, studying, engaging in and sharing the ideas of spirit?
  4. Are you naturally good and living a life free from judgement and conclusion
  5. Do you practice what you preach and have you experienced results from your investment?

Get this; If you become a spiritual life coach you will change the lives of many and in actuality the world as a whole. You will definitely help others to “Share and Shine” as I say it to my spiritual clients. What could be better than that?

I’m glad you informed us that it’s the spiritual life coach’s role to help clients create more faith and consciousness in their lives by sharing spiritual tools that can help them face challenges in life with deeper connection, purpose, and meaning. Coincidentally, I’ve been feeling quite disconnected from my faith recently since I’m too busy with work and nothing has been going right for me lately. I’ll have to consider trying out a session once I find a spiritual life coach to contact for an appointment soon.
