Setting Up Your Own Life Coaching Business Isn’t as Tough as You Think

July 9, 2015 by Fred Phillips 2 Comments

Setting up your own life coach business may seem like a daunting task, but it may not be as tough as you think. However, setting up your own life coaching business isn’t a walk in the park, either!

How to Set Up Your Own Life Coaching Business

I’m not going to give you specific details, but I will give you some tips on setting up your own life coaching business so it is as painless and as profitable as possible.

Tip #1

Don’t quit your day job! If you have a job, stay there. Don’t fire your boss, like some of the advertisements say! Don’t hand in your resignation. Don’t give your boss some ill-advised hand gesture as you burn rubber speeding out of the parking lot. Start coaching as a part-time gig and build your business slowly. When you start making some real coin, you can then fire your boss – but forget the rude hand gestures.

Tip #2

Get a certificate. You don’t need to be accredited or to have a certification hanging on your wall, but it helps to attract, obtain, and retain clients. With a good coaching program, you will learn the knowledge and skills needed to become a good life coach.

Tip #3

Get help. If you are horrible at marketing, hire someone to help you, or to at least teach you the best ways to promote your coaching business. If you are bad at setting up a business, or bad at bookkeeping, get some help. There are also coaching programs that will help you learn the basics of marketing, and will provide with valuable insights on how to set up a successful coaching business.

Tip #4

Be patient and don’t give up. It takes time to build a successful business, and coaching is no exception. You must be patient and persistent when setting up any business.

Tip #5

Have a plan, but be flexible. Before you begin, you should create a business plan. This plan should outline the fees you will charge, the niche you will coach, the name, the brand, the type of sessions you will offer (email, one-on-one, group), and much more. However, once you have a plan it doesn’t mean you have to stick to it for the remainder of your career. Setting up your own life coaching business means you have to be adaptable and flexible. Roll with the punches, look for new opportunities, consider feedback from your clients, and don’t be afraid to make necessary changes.

So – Is Setting Up your Own Life Coaching Business Easy or Difficult?

Well – as the title says, it may not be as tough as you may think, but don’t think it’s easy. Being an entrepreneur isn’t an easy road to travel – it takes hard work, patience, grit, moxie, drive, and a constant pursuit of improvement and excellence.

Setting up your own life coaching business is not about how easy or tough it is- starting your own coaching business is all about the personal rewards it brings. You help others achieve their dreams and goals, while you pursue your own.

Hope you took some great value out of this post today! I’d love to hear your feedback, so make sure you leave a comment with your thoughts or questions. And also, you can click on the Twitter button below to retweet this article…Thank you!
