My Personal Coach is Like the Statue of Liberty

If you haven’t already heard, the Statue of Liberty is closing down in October for renovations, the day after her 125th birthday. During the year-long closure, her insides will be restructured, spruced up and brought to code. How would you like to stop all that you’re doing and let someone renovate you, kind of like the Statue of Liberty?

If you haven’t already heard, the Statue of Liberty is closing down in October for renovations, the day after her 125th  birthday. During the year-long closure, her insides will be restructured, spruced up and brought to code. How would you like to stop all that you’re doing and let someone renovate you, kind of like the Statue of Liberty?

For me, I can’t wait to meet each week with my personal coach because that’s just what happens. I get to stop whatever I’m doing, and spend 30-45 minutes dedicated just to me where my spirit, mind and body gets lifted, supported and updated.

My Personal Coach is Essential to My Business

As a coach, it’s just as important for me to be coached as it is for me to coach others. In fact, part of the marketing spiel I use when I’m talking about my coaching business is that “it’s the gift you give to yourself each week.”

My personal coach’s job is not only to keep me on track; she provides me a space where I can get reconnected to myself, my purpose and my own infinite resourcefulness. It’s my time to bring awareness to what might be bothering me, help me break through any limiting beliefs, realign me with my intentions, and fill myself up so that I can better serve my own clients. I can share personal issues and life situations in a totally safe, confidential environment, guided by powerful questions and inquiries to find my own best answers. Working with my personal coach, I’m able to more quickly and easily reach my goals than I would without her on-going support.

After I meet with my personal coach I feel like a million bucks, and then I’m at my best when coaching others. I can let go of the distractions of my own stuff and focus only on being present for my clients. They benefit from it as much as I do.

Liberty, Enlightening the World

The Statue of Liberty is the icon of the United States. She stands for freedom, integrity, honesty, and a safe harbor for everyone. As a coach, you embody these same qualities for your clients. It’s your job to shine the light so that they can navigate their world with purpose, enjoy the journey along the way, and reach their planned-for destinations.

As she’s being re-fitted and refined, Lady Liberty will continue to shine her torch for those entering the harbor. Take a lesson from her and get continued coaching support for yourself so that your torch stays lit and you’re at your best for your clients.

Enjoyed your article and I appreciated your tie-in with the Statue of Liberty. I think we all need occasional times of solitude, reflection and rethinking. I can certainly see where a personal coach could be of great benefit for some people. Thanks for the inspiration!

    Marti,
this was great to get information on the restoration for one of our symbols of freedom, which most of us served and put our lives in the face of danger for.

I appreciate your view on a personal coach. I believe and from my experience, a personal coach is one who motivates me from the level of where I have empowered daily, myself. He/she is one who we built a personal relationship bonded on trust. He/she is who I accepted in my life and around my family with friends.

Their focus is on edifying and supporting my decisions, in personal growth with business transactions. They provide an outlet that others would be judgmental. They do not choose sides when I am faces with those late night calls, for reassurance. They stand and deliver reinforcement, on what I feel my directions should be.

My personal coach is a person, and knowing some what about me and my activities. Never leads my choices. They just listen, and based on their experiences, share the decisions which they took when face with my current situation, at this time.

I believe we all face points that we require one who is not judgmental. He/she will identify with our worries and doubts. They choose to reinstate the inner strength that momentary, we lost. They reassure us in times of doubt, to encourage each phase we must endure. Then we become mentors and coaches for others. This gives them the highest praises, one could look for.

Marti, this was an awesome article with a subject matter I have not seen in a long time. This is one that amazed me in the presentation. Well done and I look forward in my next visit. All ways looking to learn something daily.

I love the comparison with The Statue of Liberty and the idea of being closed for renovations.

There are many times I wished I could take and extended time out and renovate myself 🙂

The trick is, as you mentioned, to have those mini recharges and to work with someone who can keep you on track.

Awesome post… I too love the time that I spend with my personal coach. You’re right, it’s very uplifting to spend a large amount of time focusing on yourself. I consider the money that I invest in personal coaching to be the best investments that I’ve ever made. It has allowed me to put together a plan and to take massive action. Without my personal coach, I would still be floundering around with thousands of ideas running through my head.

Hi Marti, I’m glad people don’t need to take as much time out to be renovated as the Statue of Liberty does! Your post certainly does get us to all see how we all need a coach to keep us accountable and make sure we’re headed in the right direction! regards from Julieanne
