I Need a Fitness Coach

There are tens of thousands of people who are looking in the mirror and not liking what they see. They are getting older and worried about their health. They are out of shape and wondering how they can reclaim their youthful vitality. They are pinching too much fat around their waists; they are closing their eyes when they walk by the mirror; and they are letting their physical condition affect the other parts of their lives.

What these people are really saying is: I need help! I need a fitness coach. I need fitness coaching!

Why Become a Fitness Coach?

Because there are so many people concerned with their health and appearance, and because many of those people have no idea where to start or lack the motivation to begin a fitness program, there is a need for professional, knowledgeable, and skilled fitness coaches.

Because baby-boomers are aging, and there are a lot of them, the target market for a fitness coach is huge. There are plenty of potential clients for everyone! These baby boomers want to live long, stay healthy, and enjoy their golden years. But, many of them need help discovering new ways to exercise – the old ways are for the young. They also need motivation – and fitness coaches can supply plenty of inspiration, motivation, and kicks in the butt!

However, the target market isn’t comprised of just baby boomers. Even millennials and other younger people can use a little help with exercise time management and motivation. Even athletes can use a fitness coach to push them to the next level.

Almost everyone is a potential client when you become a fitness coach. Almost everyone needs some motivation and can learn new ways to push their body to new levels. There are more people saying “I need a fitness coach” than you might think!

5 Traits of Highly Successful Fitness Coaches

We know it’s a great field with plenty of potential clients, but you have to have the right stuff to be a fitness coach. You have to have what it takes to get all those people who are saying, “I need a fitness coach.” Here are five of the most important traits. Do you possess these?

  • Empathy. Can you put yourself in the shoes of someone who might be struggling with their weight or their health? A successful fitness coach understands the needs of their clients and can best determine what they need based on their attitudes, feelings, issues, obstacles, and goals.
  • The ability to listen. Every coach needs this, and fitness coaching is no exception. Listening helps you understand your clients wants, needs, and goals.

  • Patience. Once again, every coach needs this. It often takes time for a client to get inspired or to see results. Just as the client needs to be patient, the fitness coach also has to exhibits a vast quantity of the stuff!
