- Empathy. Can you put yourself in the shoes of someone who might be struggling with their weight or their health? A successful fitness coach understands the needs of their clients and can best determine what they need based on their attitudes, feelings, issues, obstacles, and goals.
- The ability to listen. Every coach needs this, and fitness coaching is no exception. Listening helps you understand your clients wants, needs, and goals.
- Humility. Just because you have the muscles and the six-packs abs and your client is shaped like a pear doesn’t mean you are any better than them. Egotistical fitness coaches are usually coaches without many clients.
- Patience. Once again, every coach needs this. It often takes time for a client to get inspired or to see results. Just as the client needs to be patient, the fitness coach also has to exhibits a vast quantity of the stuff!
Optimism. Your clients will often be depressed, or they may get disappointed that results don’t come faster. Your optimism will fuel their optimism and persistence.
