Youth life coaching – why would anyone need that? Most youths don’t have to pay the bills, worry about careers and job layoffs, and all the other stresses that adults are faced with each and every day.

However, our fast-paced, often stressful world has filtered down to our nation’s youths. It’s tough being a teenager these days. School is more difficult and competitive, getting into college is like trying to win an Olympic race, and even finding a summer job is replete with numerous challenges (competition, lack of opportunities, etc.).
Even an aging baby boomer like me can see that it’s damn difficult for a youth to find their place in the world in the 21st century. The need for youth life coaching may just be a sign of a rapidly changing world.
What is a Youth life Coach
A life coach specializing in youths will provide support, encouragement, and motivation for teenagers and young adults. Youths often need an unbiased person with whom to share their thoughts or desires. Parents, teachers, sports coaches, even friends, as well-intentioned as they may be, are not unbiased.
Life coaches make no judgments; they merely help youths identify their goals, passions, and talents. Once a picture is created for what the youth wants out of school, relationships, and life, youth life coaching can provide practical skills and a guide to achieving those goals.
What Can Youth Life Coaching do for a Youth?
An old adage; Youth is wasted on the youth. There is no doubt this is true to a certain extent. As we age, we all come to the conclusion that another saying is also true: If I had only known then what I know now.
These truisms of growing up and growing old will probably never change. However, it is possible to prevent youths from wasting too much of their youth, or to help them know as much as possible while still young.
Here are a few of the issues and problems for which youth life coaching is helpful:
- Communication with family members, teachers, and other important adults
- Self-esteem and confidence
- Identifying what they want out of school
- Identifying what they dream about for the future
- Reversing destructive or bad behavior
- Stress management (yes, youths, even without bills and adult responsibilities, experience plenty of stress in the modern world)
- Understanding and controlling emotions and placing them into their proper context
- How to live independently
- Understanding what success means to each individual
- Finding ways to relax and recharge and just have fun (yes, we are all supposed to have fun. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy!)
Life coaching – it’s just not for adults any more. It’s for kids, too! Though it is highly doubtful that too many toddlers will be needing the services of a life coach, there is no question that life coaching for teenagers is a growing field because it provides so many potential benefits at a critical time of life.
Some adults may think youth life coaching is a waste of time or only for those kids who are deeply troubled. However, coaching is really not for those with severe problems. It is for people who want to maximize their potential and reach their goals. Don’t we all want that for the young people of America and the world?

I agree. Yes youths do undergo problems and stress as well and someone who can guide them to knowing what their goals are is great.
Teenagers and kids also need life coaches. Life coaches are there to guide them to pursue their goals, manage their stress and so much more. Thanks for sharing!
