What do you think the prospect for wellness coach jobs will be in the future? Well, I’m not good at predicting future events (if I was good at it, I’d be in Vegas right now instead of here writing this), but I imagine it’s pretty good odds that wellness coaching jobs will be in demand in the short and long terms.

Trends for the Wellness Coaching Industry
To understand how explosive the wellness coaching industry will be in the future, all you need to do is look at the numbers. There are 75 million baby boomers, and about 3 million of these baby boomers will reach retirement age every year for the next 20 years. These numbers will affect the health care industry for many years to come. In 2029, when the last of the boomers hits retirement age, there will be more than 71 million Americans 65 years of age or older, a 73 percent increase in the number of Americans of retirement age in 2011.
These numbers will challenge the industry to care for a large number of elderly patients, to create a delivery system that is both efficient and cost-effective, and to eliminate voids in clinical care and health care management.
More Wellness Coach Jobs Everywhere
These numbers point to one major trend – there will be more wellness coach jobs everywhere.
Another thing that will stress the wellness industry is the fact that, despite living longer than their parents, baby boomers are sicker than their parents. They have higher rates of diabetes, high cholesterol, hypertension, obesity, and other diseases of the modern world.
Patients will demand pay for performance – since they are paying more and more for health care, they want to receive positive outcomes. These positive outcomes will increasingly depend on more than just a doctor – they will depend on an approach to medicine that will incorporate lifestyle and behavior changes, and the accumulation of knowledge, information, and data.
This pursuit of positive outcomes to disease, aging, and the pursuit of a longer and healthier life at the intersection of cost effectiveness will lead to a support system surrounding the patient/doctor relationship. This support system will need coaches – wellness coach jobs will be in demand!
Coaching the Whole Person
Coaching the while person will become more important as aging baby boomers pursue longevity and health. All sorts of coach jobs will be in demand as the population ages – people will seek the perfect juxtaposition of health, happiness, and life extension. This will require more than just a physician.
Why Wellness Coaching?
It is estimated that 70 percent of health care costs are related to preventable diseases. Combine this with the issue of rapidly increasing health care costs – both for the provider and the patient, it seems imperative that the industry create a system that is based on preventing those diseases.
This is why wellness coaching will be in demand, and why wellness coach jobs will be one of the hottest job markets in the nation.
