Become a Coach and Leadership Development Expert

July 23, 2012 by Fred Phillips Leave a Comment

If you are looking for a niche in the coaching field, here’s a good one: executive coach and leadership development expert. Executive coaching is a great field; you work with successful individuals in a highly competitive and dynamic business environment. Take executive coaching one step further and focus on leadership development. An executive coach and leadership development expert focuses on the principles of effective leadership and building a strong foundation for an executive to grow into an accomplished and adroit leader.

What Will You do as an Executive Coach and Leadership Development Expert?

  • Help executives learn how to implement programs that maximize company efficiency and reward employee success.
  • Work with executives to change their behaviors that negatively impact their leadership skills and style.
  • Teach executives essential strategies for resolving conflict and easing tensions within teams, groups, and companies.
  • Work with executives to be more engaging and interactive in their management styles.
  • Work with executives to develop strategies to change the culture of a company, build an individual and company reputation, and instill confidence in both the employees and executives.

Leaders need to have certain qualities to be skilled and effective, and an executive and leadership development expert must possess these same qualities to be an effective and proficient coach. Do you possess these important traits?

  • Pragmatic yet willing to take some chances.
  • Analytical and curious.
  • Possess both a scientific and artistic mind.
  • Energetic and engaging.
  • Knows how to use humor and understands when humor may be inappropriate.
  • Enjoy the challenge of working with highly successful people.
  • Dedicated to working hard and filled with a passion for helping others achieve goals and stated objectives.

As a coach and leadership development expert you will work with individuals and organizations to maximize potential, enhance success, and meet or succeed personal or organizational goals. Leadership development experts are needed in every industry, from local businesses to multi-national corporations, from individuals to companies with a clearly defined hierarchy, from non-profit organizations to the biggest global companies in the world.

To Niche or Not to Niche?

There are many segments of the coaching industry – executive, career, life, wellness, and more. Within these segments are an almost unending supply of niches. Niches are smaller segments of a market that are specific and clearly defined. The coaching and leadership development expert niche is a segment within either the executive, career, or life coaching field. Creating your own niche makes you a big fish in a small, or at least, smaller pond. The competition may be less and it may be easier to make a name for yourself.

However, though the competition may be less, you still have to display a passion for your work and make the effort to be the best coach you can be. If you are in a niche, your superstar coaching qualities better shine through. Declaring yourself an expert means you better coach like one!

Leadership is often needed for success and you can help people discover their inner leader. Be a coach and leadership development expert and claim your niche in a field that will undoubtedly grow in the years to come.
