This was because most people had not fully appreciated the impact that cancer has on the individual, family and society. Today, most countries around the world have strong cancer organizations that work towards improving the lives of patients and care givers. These national bodies have been a huge success. We now have international cancer organizations forming to build up a global approach in dealing with cancer related issues.

Health Coaching

One of the main benefits realized from these international and national cancer organizations has been cancer coach programs. Volunteers from all around the world have been touched by the plight of cancer patients and have stepped up to commit time, resources and energy, by signing up to become cancer coaches. Most of the coaches work without pay and take care of their expenses out of their own pockets. They stay involved in the coaching program as a way of giving back to society. A few are, however, fortunate to be operating under the sponsorship of companies that have adopted cancer coaching as part of their corporate social responsibility programs. However, almost all of those who have found sponsorship started out as self sponsored volunteers.

Cancer coaches are mostly involved in the provision of basic information on how to deal with cancer. They advise patients and the non professionals taking care of them on how to improve their quality of life. They provide guidance on early detection and its benefits, how to maintain a positive mental attitude, the best diet for the patient, updates on medical developments, organization and promotion of cancer related activities and much more. They can do this through home and hospital visits, online, phone calls and any other applicable forums. To effectively deliver this information and offer guidance on such technical areas, a cancer coach must invest in training that will equip them with the information resources required by the patients they will serve.

Why You Should Enroll to Become a Cancer Coach

With so much expected of a cancer coach and so little coming your way, most people wonder why anyone would sign up to become a cancer coach.
