{"id":3900,"date":"2010-07-04T06:30:03","date_gmt":"2010-07-04T06:30:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/coachestrainingblog.com\/becomeacoach\/?p=3900"},"modified":"2016-08-12T04:30:36","modified_gmt":"2016-08-12T12:30:36","slug":"wellness-coaching-part-ii-tips-on-techniques-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/coachestrainingblog.com\/becomeacoach\/wellness-coaching-part-ii-tips-on-techniques-6\/","title":{"rendered":"Wellness Coaching: Part II -Tips On Techniques"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Health and <a href=\"https:\/\/coachestrainingblog.com\/becomeacoach\/health-coaching-riddles-how-to-lose-fat-where-you-want-to-most\/3659\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>wellness coaching<\/strong><\/span><\/a> is a popular and growing coaching niche.\u00a0 As a coach in this field, you need to be a strategist, a cheer leader and often, a task-master.\u00a0 Here are some ideas on how to maximize your effectiveness with clients who want your help in this realm.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong><strong>Where is your client headed?&#8211; Setting Goals<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/coachestrainingblog.com\/becomeacoach\/health-coaching-riddles-how-to-lose-fat-where-you-want-to-most\/3659\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Wellness coaching,<\/strong><\/span><\/a> like any other coaching, requires specific goals.\u00a0 Without them, how will you and your client measure his progress?\u00a0 From his story, his or his family\u2019s history, and of course, just by asking, you know what wellness behaviors he wants to change.\u00a0 You can work with him to develop specific, measurable goals, and possibly a time line for achieving them.<\/p>\n<p>Depending on your own particular coaching philosophy and experience, you may already have a system for coaching on particular health and wellness goals.\u00a0\u00a0 If not, be sure to break the steps to each goal into reasonable size chunks, so your client doesn\u2019t feel overwhelmed and give up before he starts.<\/p>\n<p>If your client is adamant about any weight or fitness goals which seem particularly extreme, consider asking him to consult an appropriate medical or fitness professional.\u00a0 Let him know you are committed to his success, and you want to make sure his goals are physically safe.\u00a0 This not only protects you both, but it can also open an opportunity to coach your client around good decision making, body image, or other issues.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Run interference on your client\u2019s wellness coaching issues<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Be a super sleuth.\u00a0 Find out what happened in the past that\u2019s holding your client back now.\u00a0 Maybe he couldn\u2019t find the time to exercise.\u00a0 Maybe he got frustrated because he wasn\u2019t seeing the results he expected.\u00a0 Maybe he got injured and now is frightened of getting injured again.\u00a0 Whatever happened before, he\u2019s working with you now, and successful <strong>wellness coaching<\/strong> requires getting him motivated and committed to continue, this time.\u00a0 Reassure him that you will coach him through whatever challenges crop up on the way to his goals.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Keep moving forward: Accountability<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Accountability is critical in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">wellness coaching<\/span>.\u00a0 It\u2019s a challenge to replace old habits with new healthier ones.\u00a0 Your client will be more motivated to keep whatever action commitments you\u2019ve agreed on, when part of the commitment is reporting to you.\u00a0 He won\u2019t want to disappoint you or run the risk of you being annoyed or angry with him.\u00a0 And, he\u2019ll feel he\u2019s getting great value for money, because you\u2019re keeping track of his actions between calls.<\/p>\n<p>Because most wellness habits need to be a daily practice, keep your <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">wellness coaching<\/span> client on track by having him call or email you every day to report that he\u2019s either kept or not kept his commitments around food, exercise, meditation, or whatever you\u2019re working on.\u00a0 Let him know you may not pick up the phone or respond to the email, but you do expect him to report.\u00a0 Then hold him accountable in your next session.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Special Bonus<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> \u2013 <\/span><em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Learn 32 \u2018Guru\u2019 Transformation Techniques when you fill in the form at the top right and click the \u201cWatch The Videos Now\u201d button.
