class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lots of coaches are worried about <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">doing a client harm<\/span> because they lack\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Training \/ Coaching Skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Knowledge<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"840\" height=\"472.5\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What REALLY damages your client?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Missing out on <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">your COACHING<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Without coaching<\/span>, your client\u2019s life and problems <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">get WORSE, not better<\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Without coaching<\/span>, your client\u2019s life and problems <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">get WORSE, class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A bad coaching session due to \u2018new coach-itis\u2019?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not that scary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Coaching provides:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Progress<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A Space to be heard<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Transformation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support &amp; Accountability<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And you don\u2019t have to be <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">skilled<\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">knowledgeable<\/span>, or <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">experienced<\/span> to facilitate that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You just have to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">care<\/span> (and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">coach<\/span>!).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/coachestrainingblog.com\/becomeacoach\/how-to-break-through-your-fears-in-your-coaching-business-3-simple-steps\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>FEAR<\/strong><\/a><strong> is the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">enemy<\/span> of your coaching.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/coachestrainingblog.com\/becomeacoach\/how-to-break-through-your-fears-in-your-coaching-business-3-simple-steps\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>FEAR<\/strong><\/a><strong> is the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">enemy<\/span> of your coaching.<\/strong>&#8220;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fear causes you to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">wait to start<\/span> coaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">and wait.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">and wait.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">and wait.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And no matter how much you <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">learn<\/span> about coaching\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026fear makes it seem like you\u2019re <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">never quite ready to start<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Don\u2019t have any <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">coaching skills<\/span>?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can still help your client by providing <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">knowledge<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Knowledge can\u2019t harm your client.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It can only help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In fact, the most successful coaching businesses specialize in education\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026not coaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most of your client\u2019s problems and goals fall into <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">these three categories<\/span>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Health \/ Fitness \/ Beauty<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Love \/ Relationships<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Business \/ Finances \/ Career<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Learn a category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">offer the knowledge<\/span> to your clients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Don\u2019t have any <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">knowledge<\/span>?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Learn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can learn the fundamentals in half a day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can learn from<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the Internet<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Courses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reading books<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>listening to Podcasts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u201cBut, Kris, if it\u2019s so easy to learn these things, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">won\u2019t my client already \u2018know it all\u2019<\/span>?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes, the knowledge is out there, but <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">most clients won\u2019t seek it out<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026they\u2019d rather <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">ask you<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Learn the knowledge <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">for them<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u201cBut Kris, coaches <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">aren\u2019t<\/span> supposed to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">teach<\/span> or <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">give advice<\/span>!\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fact is, most coaches give at least a little advice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Advice<\/span> isn\u2019t the BEST form of coaching, but <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">it\u2019s better than NO COACHING<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Advice<\/span> isn\u2019t the BEST form of coaching, but <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">it\u2019s better than NO COACHING<\/span>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some coaching businesses do NOTHING but give advice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019ve seen coaches build entire businesses based on the teachings of a your client to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">apply<\/span> the knowledge.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You don\u2019t need lots of skills to do this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Just ask them:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u201cHow will you <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">apply<\/span> what you\u2019ve <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">learned<\/span>?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u201cWhat <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">actions<\/span> do you need to take based upon this <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">new knowledge<\/span>?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026then just <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">hold them accountable<\/span> for whatever commitments come out of that conversation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Easy enough?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Three steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Learn<\/span> something.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Teach<\/span> it to clients.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Coach<\/span> them to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">apply<\/span> it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And you can do ALL THAT <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">starting with no knowledge<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Don\u2019t have any <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">experience<\/span>?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes you <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">do<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">ANY experience<\/span> in ANY area\u2026 IS EXPERIENCE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">ANY experience<\/span> in ANY area\u2026 IS EXPERIENCE.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your experiences could be <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">great sources of wisdom<\/span> for your clients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But experience also has a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">downside<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Experience <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">limits a coach<\/span> through the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">unconscious bias<\/span> those experiences provoke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How can having no experience be <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">beneficial<\/span> to your coaching?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>No experience = <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">no limiting beliefs<\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>No experience = <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">no limiting beliefs<\/span>.<\/strong>&#8220;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Without experience, you can help clients achieve things that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">everyone else thought was \u201cimpossible<\/span>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BOTTOM LINE: Even if you don\u2019t have any experience\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026you can still effectively coach your client.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Asking <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">powerful questions<\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">listening<\/span>, providing <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">accountability<\/span>, and acting as a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">sounding board<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026these aspects of coaching <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">require no experience<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Questions:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can help your client by asking them questions instead of giving advice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe your client had success in the past but stopped doing what worked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">One question<\/span> could <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">bring back their mojo<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Asking your client questions can propel a client forward quickly, especially if they already know what to do next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Listening:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A client can work through their own problem if you <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">create a space for them to talk through it<\/span>\u2026 just listening to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BOTTOM LINE: Even if you don\u2019t have any experience\u2026you can still effectively coach your client.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Fear of damaging your client causes \u2018over-coaching\u2019&#8230;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026and <a href=\"https:\/\/coachestrainingblog.com\/becomeacoach\/the-hard-to-get-coach\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>OVERCOACHING<\/strong><\/a> can <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">damage your client<\/span>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fear can push a coach to force coaching on a client.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">you can\u2019t force coaching<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Coaching is like helping a chick hatch out of its shell.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Would you <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">break the shell<\/span> for them?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Probably not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You would let them break through the shell themselves so they can build their own strength.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You might <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">encourage<\/span> the chick to continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once the chick hatches through its shell, you would <a href=\"https:\/\/coachestrainingblog.com\/becomeacoach\/coach-guide-to-celebrating-wins\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>celebrate<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even though you didn\u2019t physically help the chick break out of their shell\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026you STILL helped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fearful coaches are so <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">worried<\/span> about their \u2018chicks\u2019&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026that they are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">smashing the shell with a hammer<\/span>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/coachestrainingblog.com\/becomeacoach\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/smash-egg.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSmashing\u201d your client seldom serves them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BOTTOM LINE: <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Fear<\/span> of damaging your client\u2026 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">damages<\/span> your client. How\u2019s that for <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">irony<\/span>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Coaching isn\u2019t where your client\u2019s \u201cdamage\u201d comes style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">themselves<\/span>\u2026<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes, your client\u2019s life could get MORE messed up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some clients will take your coaching and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">use it as justification for continuing their downward spiral<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That doesn\u2019t change the fact that THEY made their own mess.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Their mess was <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">already made<\/span> BEFORE you showed up.So either way, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">THEY made the mess<\/span>\u2026 Not you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image helping them<\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nobody is getting a divorce because you suggested they communicate with their spouse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the divorce happens on your watch\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026their relationship was already in trouble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nobody is going to Las Vegas to gamble away their life savings because you suggested they take risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That client already lacked common sense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What IS possible with coaching?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Your client\u2019s life <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">could actually GET BETTER<\/span>.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your client IS more likely to get healthy because you suggested drinking more water, and getting enough sleep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your client IS more likely to improve their relationship because you coached them to spend more time with family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your client IS more likely to improve their financial situation when you coach them to reduce their debt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Beth (the first client I ever coached) earned $15K due to my coaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And THAT was the first month I coached her!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even though I felt some <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">fear<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026 I made a huge style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">skilled<\/span> you\u2019ll get.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the more <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">knowledge<\/span> you\u2019ll acquire.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026and the more <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">impact<\/span> you\u2019ll make in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
