href=\"https:\/\/coachestrainingblog.com\/becomeacoach\/the-esteemed-coach\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>7 ways to trigger \u201cesteem\u201d from potential clients<\/strong><\/a><strong> <\/strong>BEFORE they talk to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Those \u201cfirst impressions\u201d can make a difference in your coaching enrollments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">first impressions aren\u2019t enough<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Have you ever made a great \u201cfirst impression\u201d with a potential client&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u2026only <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">to lose<\/span> them during <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the discovery session<\/span>?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"840\" height=\"472.5\" call.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">source<\/span> of your anxiety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Will they <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">approve<\/span>\u2026?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You deliver great coaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>It\u2019s time to ENROLL them.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You think to yourself <em><strong>\u201cIt\u2019s now or never\u2026\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You use the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">lines that you practiced<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It seems to be going well so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But then they ask you <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">a question you weren\u2019t expecting<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026and somehow <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">you drop the ball<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe you weren\u2019t <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">strong<\/span> enough\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026or <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">confident<\/span> enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026or you <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">fumble your words<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026or take too long to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">respond<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026or <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">laugh<\/span> at the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">wrong thing<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ultimately, they smile, and politely end the conversation with<strong> <em>\u201cI\u2019ll get back with you.\u201d<\/em><\/strong> and you think to yourself\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u2026\u201dYeah right.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>And sure enough, you don\u2019t hear from them.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">replay the session<\/span> in your mind\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026and think of all the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">things you should have said<\/span> (or NOT said).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But it\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">too late<\/span> now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Somehow <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">you lost whatever \u201cesteem\u201d<\/span> the prospective client originally had for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>There\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">a term called \u2018catfishing\u2019<\/span> usually related to online dating\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026where an <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">internet relationship goes bad<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026due to one party <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">faking their life, picture, job, etc.<\/span>, online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They made <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=BuE98oeL-e0\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>a movie about it in 2010<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/coachestrainingblog.com\/becomeacoach\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/catfish-movie-for-blog.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"897\" class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And an almost decade running TV show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can imagine the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">disappointment<\/span> when you\u2019ve been \u2018catfished\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">THAT\u2019S the same kind of disappointment <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">your client feels<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026when their <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">first impression<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">doesn&#8217;t match up<\/span> with their COACHING EXPERIENCE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>You don\u2019t want to leave your client feeling \u201cCATFISHED\u201d.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No matter how much you initially appear to be the \u201cguru\u201d&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026prospective clients know <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">appearances are deceiving<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can have the most <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">attractive website<\/span> ever\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can have the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">coolest online persona<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You might have <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">awesome content<\/span> (books, videos, podcasts)&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>But prospective clients are STILL going to test <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">to see if THE REAL YOU matches up with that first impression<\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you appear to be held in high esteem <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">at first<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026but don\u2019t show it <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">while running an actual coaching session<\/span> with your client\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026they will <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">question<\/span> if you\u2019re REALLY a leader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">probably won\u2019t hire you<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your client will ask themselves:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u201cWho is the leader here? <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Me<\/span> or <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the Coach<\/span>?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, what\u2019s the solution?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Coach your potential clients so they <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">continue<\/span> to hold you in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">high esteem<\/span>.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here are 4 ways to trigger potential clients to hold you in high esteem <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">while actually coaching them<\/span> (no \u2018catfishing\u2019 necessary):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Be ASSERTIVE.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Be ASSERTIVE.<\/strong>&#8220;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Boldly initiate contact with potential clients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Don\u2019t wait for permission from others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We like to follow BOLD people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When meeting with a potential client, if you\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">back down<\/span> easily<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">compromise<\/span> on what we are asking for or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">backtrack<\/span> on our opinions\u2026<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026you will quickly be viewed as a coach who shouldn\u2019t be held in high esteem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Don\u2019t let clients see you \u201csweat\u201d<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Keep calm when you&#8217;re coaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So many coaches with great potential\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">crumble<\/span> or <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">choke<\/span> in the middle of coaching sessions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It doesn\u2019t have to be that way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first way to maintain your confidence and composure?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>PREPARE:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s hard to keep calm if you&#8217;re <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">unprepared<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Clients can tell<\/span> when you\u2019ve prepared (and when you haven\u2019t).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How can you prepare for coaching?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Meditate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Review your notes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Journal.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prayer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Research the subject to be discussed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Affirmations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Refresh yourself on coaching methods.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Preparation allows you to get the most out of your abilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you\u2019re prepared in advance for discovery sessions\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026you\u2019ll more likely get hired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pick what works for you, but <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">have a preparation routine and stick to it<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>SILENCE:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A little bit of silence goes a LONG way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you feel LANGUAGE:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">93% of ALL communication is non-verbal<\/span> (and most of that is BODY LANGUAGE\u2026 or, at least DRIVEN by your body language).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Stand up straight.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keep your chin up.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have a confident look on your face.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stay focused.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Powerful body language will <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">improve your tone and quality of coaching<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026since it deeply impacts your mindset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Powerful body language will <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">improve your tone and quality of coaching<\/span>\u2026since it deeply impacts your mindset.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Make eye contact<\/span>, but don\u2019t \u201cstare down\u201d your client.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whenever you make eye contact, whoever looks away LAST is taking on the leadership role in that relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you want to lead your client, make eye contact and maintain it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Speak in Ways That Build Esteem:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Use your prospective client&#8217;s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">name<\/span> when you talk to them.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Clients LOVE the sound of their own name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It makes them feel close to you, and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">important<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Use their name, but do so as a natural part of conversation. Don\u2019t use their name every sentence, or it will sound robotic to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Speak \u2018Positive\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If positivity is not coming across as your \u2018default mode\u2019, prospective clients will eventually think.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u201cWhy would I hire that coach? They <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">seem no better off than I am<\/span>\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Keeping the conversation \u2018positive\u2019<\/span> gives your client confidence that everything is going to be ok.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By the way, You CAN <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">get negative when appropriate<\/span> (but make it temporary). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Negativity shouldn\u2019t be your default state of mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Get to the point:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSmall talk\u201d is ok in small doses, but don\u2019t waste your potential client&#8217;s time by going off on tangents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Keep bringing the conversation <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">back to the subject you agreed to meet about<\/span>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The client\u2019s result<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The client\u2019s problem<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The client\u2019s situation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The client\u2019s life<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When you stay on topic, potential clients will respect you and value your time more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Don\u2019t \u201cSell Coaching\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Don\u2019t \u201cSell Coaching\u201d&#8230; <span \u201cSell Coaching\u201d&#8230; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Offer VALUE <\/span>for free and enroll clients to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">get even MORE<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Don\u2019t \u201cSell Coaching\u201d&#8230; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Listen<\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Clarify<\/span>, and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Lead<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Don\u2019t \u201cSell Coaching\u201d&#8230; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Give empathy<\/span> and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">partner with your client<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019m not saying \u201cDon\u2019t enroll your client in coaching\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But BEFORE you enroll a client, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">find out if you can even help them FIRST<\/span>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Only talk about why your client \u201cshould\u201d hire you\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u2026AFTER you\u2019re SURE you can help them.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anything else <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">makes you look like just another &#8216;salesperson&#8217;.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A coach is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">more like a DOCTOR<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Doctors don\u2019t \u2018sell\u2019 treatments\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Doctors DIAGNOSE first\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026then they PRESCRIBE the right treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When you learn about your potential client (instead of selling)&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026you show <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">confidence<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026you show you <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">care<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026and you <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">gain the client\u2019s esteem<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You don\u2019t need to sell coaching\u2026 EVER.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Don\u2019t speak too much or too fast.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Talking too much or too fast is a sign of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">anxiety<\/span> and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">&#8216;people pleasing&#8217;<\/span> tendencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Speak slowly<\/span>, and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">don\u2019t talk more than necessary<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Keep your focus on <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">asking questions<\/span>, and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">LISTENING to your client\u2019s answers<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Keep your focus on <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">asking questions<\/span>, and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">LISTENING to your client\u2019s answers<\/span>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Fall in love<\/span> with your client\u2019s answers (rather than the sound of your own voice).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Don\u2019t talk about yourself.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">almost no upside to<\/span> talking to clients about yourself or your life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most clients, at best, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">aren\u2019t interested in you<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026and, at worst, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">will think you\u2019re trying to make the conversation about you.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The purpose of the coaching session is to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">focus on the CLIENT<\/span>\u2026 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not you<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Don\u2019t talk like you\u2019re INFERIOR.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some coaches <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">display inferiority<\/span> through their <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">speaking<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026as if they\u2019re putting their own low self esteem <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">on display<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Examples of this?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Saying <strong><em>\u201cI\u2019m sorry\u201d<\/em><\/strong> about every little thing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2018putting yourself down\u2019 or \u2018confessing\u2019 negatives about yourself.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Saying <strong><em>\u201cI\u2019m new\u201d<\/em><\/strong> or <strong><em>\u201cI don\u2019t have any clients\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">usually no need<\/span> to put your insecurities on display as the coach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Doing so <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">demonstrates low self-esteem<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Why would <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">your client<\/span> hold you in high-esteem if  don\u2019t think highly of yourself?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s like forfeiting the match before you even play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Play to win\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026and let potential coaching clients decide for class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Set and Keep Your Boundaries<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Clients will immediately discover and test your boundaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maintaining your boundaries shows you\u2019re selective about who you take on as a client\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026not to mention, that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">you have a SPINE<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If a potential client <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">tries to seduce you into violating a boundary<\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">call their bluff<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If they continue to push that boundary, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">walk away<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>One of the best ways to show that you\u2019re a highly valuable coach\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u2026is being <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">willing to walk away<\/span> and MEAN it.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example: Barbara (a coach I\u2019m working with) had a prospective client who wanted to schedule a discovery session right in the middle of her day off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Barbara told me <strong><em>\u201cI\u2019m not sure what to do because <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">I\u2019m so new<\/span>\u2026 and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">really use the client<\/span>.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So I asked her <strong><em>\u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">What are you teaching your client<\/span> if you violate your own boundary?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Barbara said, <strong><em>\u201cI\u2019d be teaching my client that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">my boundaries don\u2019t matter.<\/span>\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u201cI\u2019d probably end up scheduling client meetings into my family time on a regular basis.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I coached her <strong><em>\u201cThen you better <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">maintain your boundary<\/span>.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So \u2018Boundary Barbara\u2019 took my coaching\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026and scheduled the client just fine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And, in the process, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">maintained her own self-esteem<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026opening the door to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">gaining even MORE esteem from her new client<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So don\u2019t be afraid to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">stand by your boundaries<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You\u2019ll find that clients can adapt to your boundaries the vast majority of the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Do these four \u2018esteem triggers\u2019 sound like a lot of work?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They ARE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And don\u2019t forget, you probably needed to do a lot BEFORE you even started talking to your clients (as I mentioned in the last email on <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/coachestrainingblog.com\/becomeacoach\/the-esteemed-coach\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>triggering esteem prior to meeting with a client<\/strong><\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But a coaching relationship is MORE than just a friendship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">change lives<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">get PAID<\/span> to coach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You don\u2019t just \u2018hang out\u2019 with your clients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">gear up<\/span> for coaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s WAY more <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">impactful<\/span> than most friendships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019ll take <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">motivation<\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">belief<\/span>, and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">sacrifice<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your coaching business will be <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the BEST personal development course you\u2019ll ever take<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You\u2019ll need to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">follow your own coaching<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You\u2019ll need to elevate your own accomplishments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And, only then, will you <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">powerfully coach clients in a way that gains<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">tremendous esteem<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">YOU lead your clients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">They<\/span> keep up with <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">you<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>You<\/strong><strong> don\u2019t stop for <\/strong><strong>them<\/strong><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">HOW do you <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">stay ahead of your clients<\/span>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s exactly what I\u2019ll
