href=\"https:\/\/coachestrainingblog.com\/becomeacoach\/shallow-vs-deep-coaching\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">going deep<\/a><\/strong>\u2019 with your coaching clients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The idea of pushing past the \u2018presented problem\u2019 to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">see something deeper<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026something profound, precious, rare<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">.\u2026just like you would <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">dive beneath the surface<\/span> to see beyond the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u2018tip of the iceberg\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>HOW do you go <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">deeper<\/span> with your client?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here\u2019s an example of a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">coaching model for going deeper<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>I call it <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the Iceberg Model<\/span>:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Iceberg Model encompasses <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">three \u2018domains\u2019 of experience<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each domain can emerge in a coaching session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">coach inside of a single domain<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026or <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">coach to all three<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Domain #1: Conversation<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Conversation is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">what\u2019s said and done on the SURFACE<\/span>:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>What is the client <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">saying<\/span>?<\/li><li>What is your client <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">doing<\/span>?<\/li><li>What are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">other people<\/span> saying?<\/li><li>What are the people in your client\u2019s life doing?<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you recall your last coaching session <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">like a movie\u2019s plot points<\/span>, you\u2019re <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">recalling the CONVERSATION.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Domain #2: Being<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Being is how your client <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">shows up<\/span> in life\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026their mindset, their emotions, and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">what\u2019s really going on \u2018deep down\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Being is often thought of as an \u2018invisible x-factor\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Being is often thought of as an \u2018invisible x-factor\u2019.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When you notice <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">your clients attitude, demeanor, or tone<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026you\u2019re seeing their BEING.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And although you can observe some aspects of your client\u2019s being\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026some aspects of being <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">can only be revealed to you by your client<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Think of \u2018Being\u2019 as all the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">deeper meanings underneath the surface<\/span> talk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Think of \u2018Being\u2019 as all the deeper <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">agendas<\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">feelings<\/span>, and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">motivations<\/span> behind the surface action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Domain #3: Impact<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Impact is the \u2018domino effect\u2019 that stems from your client\u2019s Conversation and Being.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Think of the Impact as <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">consequences<\/span>&#8230; the \u2018fruit\u2019 of your client\u2019s labor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Think of the Impact as <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">consequences<\/span>&#8230; the \u2018fruit\u2019 of your client\u2019s labor.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the largest scope, your client\u2019s entire life is the Impact of who they\u2019ve been, and what they\u2019ve done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How do you use the \u2018Iceberg Model\u2019 to coach deeper?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Imagine your client tells you the following\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u201cI hate my mother because she\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">constantly trying to control me<\/span>.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u201cAnd my team at work\u2026 they are a bunch of unreliable morons. I need to <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>make them \u2018feel the pain\u2019 because <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">they missed a major deadline<\/span> the other day.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u201cAnd my ex-husband is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">threatening me with a custody battle<\/span>. If he wins, <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>I\u2019m going to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">make his life a living hell<\/span>.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u201cMy life is falling apart. I\u2019m just a horrible person. style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">part<\/span> of the \u2018Iceberg Model\u2019 is the client displaying to you?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you said \u2018Conversation\u2019, you hit the nail on the head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can see your client is\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Talking to you about what\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">happening<\/span>.<\/li><li>Talking about their <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">actions<\/span> (and the actions of others).<\/li><li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Talking<\/span> to the people around them.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All these are forms of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Conversation<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">surface action<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026things people are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">saying<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>All these are forms of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Conversation<\/span>\u2026the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">surface action<\/span>\u2026things people are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">saying<\/span>.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is your starting point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your client is engaging with you in the Conversation domain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The problem you face?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You\u2019ve got to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">move the coaching session BEYOND that Conversation<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>And your client\u2019s whole life is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">positioned to MAINTAIN that conversation<\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In fact, it\u2019s likely that your <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">client<\/span>, their <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">situation<\/span>, and the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">people<\/span> in their life\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">completely dominated by that Conversation<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Everybody\u2019s probably living in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">reaction to that Conversation<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Too many coaches <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">chase<\/span> after the \u2018presenting Conversation\u2019\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026like a dog chasing a bone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Don\u2019t get hooked<\/span> on the Conversation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Don\u2019t get caught in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">reaction<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(Or, if you do, <a href=\"https:\/\/coachestrainingblog.com\/becomeacoach\/my-wife-hired-a-hitman-to-kill-me-crazy-coaching-session\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>step away from the drama<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/coachestrainingblog.com\/becomeacoach\/why-is-your-client-uncoachable\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>cultivate a clean space<\/strong><\/a> for yourself.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You\u2019re supposed to be their<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> coach<\/span>, remember?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026not just another <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">bystander<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>BOTTOM LINE: If you get caught up in your client&#8217;s Conversations\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026then <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">that coaching session is just another reaction<\/span> to the conversions around your client.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then you join the rest of the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">window-dressing in your client\u2019s life<\/span>, along with\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">friends<\/span> that listen to their conversation\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">bystanders that watch<\/span> their drama unfold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Instead, flip the script, come from wisdom, and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">explore past the \u2018tip of the iceberg\u2019.<\/span>..<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026the domains that lie <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">under the surface<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">beneath the surface<\/span>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this orientation of the Iceberg Model, notice that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">both \u2018Being\u2019 and \u2018Impact\u2019 are beneath the surface<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>You could explore how your client is <\/strong><strong>Being<\/strong><strong>.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019ll open up a whole new domain for your coaching session with that client.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this example, here are a few <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">questions<\/span> you could use to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">explore the \u2018Being\u2019 domain<\/span>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><em>\u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">How are you being about your mother<\/span> when she tries to control you?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><em>\u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">How are you being about that deadline<\/span> your team missed?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><em>\u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Why<\/span> do you want your team to \u2018feel the pain\u2019?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><em>\u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Why are you feeling that way<\/span> about your ex-husband?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><em>\u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">What do you mean<\/span> that you\u2019re a horrible person? <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Why<\/span> do you think that?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><em>\u201cWho are you <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">being at work<\/span> right now?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><em>\u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Who<\/span> is your mother to you?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><em>\u201cWho are you <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">being in relation<\/span> to your ex-husband?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><em>\u201cWhat are you <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">really up to<\/span> with your team?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Notice that all these questions are pointing to<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">How your client is showing up<\/span> in life.<\/li><li>Your client\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">emotion<\/span> or <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">mindset<\/span>.<\/li><li>Your client\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">attitude, demeanor, or tone<\/span>.<\/li><li>What your client is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">really up to<\/span> \u2018deep down\u2019.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This exploration alone <span style=\"text-decoration: you<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe your client is so <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">caught up<\/span> with the \u2018Conversations\u2019 in their life\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026that they\u2019re <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not even paying attention<\/span> to who they\u2019re Being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How is this client likely \u2018Being\u2019 about their challenges?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Frustrated?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Angry?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Blaming?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Judgmental?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">that way of Being is the source of the surface Conversation<\/span> they shared with you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Can you imagine how much <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">value<\/span> that insight might open up in the coaching session?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Who your client is Being (in relationship to those Conversations)&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026might <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">totally TRANSFORM their experience<\/span> of the SAME CONVERSATION.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>You could explore the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Impact<\/span> in your client\u2019s life.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Can you imagine the Impact this particular Iceberg might create?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There\u2019s probably an <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Impact on your client<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026and their <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">co-workers, mother, and ex-husband<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And I\u2019d bet this client hasn\u2019t <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">completely considered<\/span> the Impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How would we know?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because if they thought deeply about these Impacts, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">they might stop their current Conversation<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here are a few questions you could use with that client to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">explore the \u2018Impact\u2019 domain<\/span>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><em>\u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">What\u2019s the impact<\/span> of this conversation on your life right now?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><em>\u201cWhat\u2019s the impact of this missed deadline\u2026 on you\u2026 on your team\u2026 on your job?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><em>\u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">What will be the impact in the future<\/span> if the conversation with your mother continues in this way?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><em>\u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">How is all that working out<\/span> for you currently?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><em>\u201cWhat do you <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">experience<\/span> when you think that you\u2019re a \u2018horrible person\u2019?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Exploring the Impact might help your client <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">connect the dots<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026between the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">current Conversation<\/span> in their life\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026and the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">consequences of these Conversations<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are lots of angles to the \u2018impact\u2019, but the common thread is THIS:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The impact always <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">stems from a CAUSE or SOURC<\/span>E.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Impacts don\u2019t exist in a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">vacuum<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>These \u2018deeper domains\u2019 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">aren\u2019t always what\u2019s hidden<\/span>, however.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not every client will start their session with the surface level Conversation domain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your client could <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">offer up ANY part of the iceberg<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026which \u2018flips the iceberg\u2019 on its head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/coachestrainingblog.com\/becomeacoach\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/flip-model-sm.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/coachestrainingblog.com\/becomeacoach\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/flip-model-sm.gif\" alt=\"Rotating Iceberg\" class=\"wp-image-27762\" width=\"777\" height=\"438\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That puts <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">other parts of the Iceberg \u2018under the surface\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In these cases, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">flip the Iceberg Model<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026so <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">whichever domain your client shares AT FIRST<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026is the \u2018tip of the iceberg\u2019&#8230; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">above the surface<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>For instance, a client might approach you with a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">catastrophe<\/span> in their life\u2026<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">death<\/span> in the family, or the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">loss of a job<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They might be <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">sad<\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">scared<\/span>, or <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">depressed<\/span> about the situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What are they sharing with you (or, at least, showing you) <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">on the surface<\/span>?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sounds like the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Impact<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Have you ever had a session like that?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where your client was <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">so wound up with the consequences<\/span> in their life?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Some clients <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">can\u2019t pry themselves away from the Impact<\/span>\u2026<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026and they\u2019ll run to you with their most recent drama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Going deeper with that client means <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">asking them different questions<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Questions about the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Conversation domain<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Try:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><em>\u201cWhat <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">happened<\/span>?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><em>\u201cWhat have you been <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">doing<\/span> about it?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><em>\u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">What do you think<\/span> about what\u2019s happening?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><em>\u201cWhat do you have to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">say<\/span> about it?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><em>\u201cWhat do your <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">friends say<\/span> about what\u2019s happening?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><em>\u201cWhat are you <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">going to do<\/span> next?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><em>\u201cWhat should you do about it?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These are the kinds of questions I\u2019ll ask a client who\u2019s wound up with the IMPACT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes, I\u2019ll ask these of a client who\u2019s in dire circumstances, or who was recently impacted by tragedy (with all due sensitivity, of course).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And, I\u2019m not saying \u2018don\u2019t be sensitive to your client\u2019s pain\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019m saying \u2018don\u2019t leave them stuck there.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Why is it important to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">explore the Conversation<\/span> with a client <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">stuck in the Impact<\/span>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Because a client stuck in the impact <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">takes no action<\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You wouldn\u2019t want to leave your client <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">frozen<\/span>, would you?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Conversations<\/span> give your client <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">access to transformation<\/span>.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Conversation stops<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">progress<\/span> stops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">creation<\/span> stops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">possibilities<\/span> die.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Do you know someone who was impacted by tragic events and then <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">their life went into stasis<\/span>?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They\u2019re living a \u2018<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">flat line\u2019 life<\/span> now\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026and it\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not<\/span> because of the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">tragedy<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s because they <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">got STUCK in the Impact<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026and no one <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">pulled them out<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The people surrounding a client stuck in the Impact will <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">walk around on pins and needles<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You\u2019ll need to be the exception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Have the conversation those others won\u2019t have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From time to time, you\u2019ll run across a \u2018dream client\u2019&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>This client brings the \u2018Being\u2019 domain to every session.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They might bring up their <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">mindset<\/span>, or their <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">perspective<\/span>, or who <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">they\u2019re becoming in life<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s a great start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Being can be the source<\/span> of so much in your client\u2019s life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You\u2019ll likely want to explore the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Impact<\/span> and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Conversation<\/span> domains with that client.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">as deep as you can go<\/span>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not for this client.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Being without Action<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Being without appreciation of the consequences<\/span>\u2026 is less than empowering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, while you\u2019ll still address that client\u2019s Being&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Inquire around what\u2019s happening (the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Conversation<\/span> domain).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Explore the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Impact<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>When your client brings up a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">goal<\/span>, or <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">problem<\/span>\u2026<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026no matter how intense the issue is\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026don\u2019t only REACT to it on it\u2019s surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Find the deeper domain<\/span> that cuts through to the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">breakthroughs<\/span> and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">insights<\/span> your client sorely needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That coaching conversation could be truly <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">transformational<\/span> for your client.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That coaching is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">worth a high fee<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That coaching is \u2018<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">high ticket<\/span>\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">simple<\/span> approach to going deeper?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Deep coaching is as simple as <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">positioning that Iceberg Model in front of you<\/span>, and then\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Notice what domain your client brings to the session<\/span> (that\u2019s the tip of the iceberg).<\/li><li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Explore that domain<\/span>.<\/li><li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Ask questions that address the domains beneath the surface<\/span> of the iceberg.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Look for what the client is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not paying attention to<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What is the client <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not saying<\/span>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Find their \u2018<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">blind spots<\/span>\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Read <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">between the lines<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Look beneath the surface\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026beyond the \u2018tip of the iceberg\u2019&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026towards <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">what\u2019s not yet explored<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Those blind spots\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Those deeper conversations and explorations\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Those <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">icebergs that have so much beneath the surface<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>They&#8217;re <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">just a few questions away<\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And all you\u2019ve got to be\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
