\u2026Hal Elrod had built a six figure coaching business<\/span> with tons of clients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But then he lost most of his clients overnight<\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n He found himself sad, disappointed, and down on himself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n His daily activity turned into watching TV\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026sulking on the couch\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026and feeling sorry for himself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Then, Hal got a call that changed his destiny<\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Over the phone, Hal\u2019s friend and business partner, Jon Berghoff (another Master Coach University alumnus)…<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026pushed Hal to begin what eventually became his \u2018Miracle <\/strong><\/a>Morning<\/a><\/strong>\u2019 practice<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n That turned into the Miracle Morning book, the best seller<\/strong><\/a> that made him so famous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But I think something else changed<\/span> when Hal turned his coaching business around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n When Hal fell into that slump\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026he lost his generosity<\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n And, when Jon inspired Hal to practice his Miracle Morning for the first time\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026Hal reclaimed his generous self<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026and began to give again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This time, instead of just speaking and coaching\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026he shared his new found Miracle Morning practice\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026in a purely generous act<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He wasn\u2019t charging<\/span> for it..<\/p>\n\n\n\n He wasn\u2019t expecting anything in return<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He just shared his \u2018Miracle Mornings\u2019 daily on social media\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026giving 100% of himself with NO RESERVATIONS.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n THAT\u2019S what made Hal a world-wide phenomenon and a best selling author<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Reclaiming his generosity<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Gotten stuck in a purely selfish place<\/span>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n How did you get past it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n (or DID you get past it?)<\/p>\n\n\n\n As I mentioned in the last email, selfishness is ok<\/strong><\/a> (in fact, necessary) in a coaching business\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n But I also said that GENEROSITY is necessary, too<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n You\u2019d think that coaches have generosity handled\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026but many of them are pretty stingy<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026even though the reason why most coaches do what they do<\/span> is not because they\u2019re\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026making big money<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026getting lots of credit<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026or becoming a super celebrity<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n Coaches still hold back on the giving<\/span> lever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Some coaches live in a scarcity mindset<\/span>\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026so they \u2018hold on\u2019 to their time, money, and energy<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026which suffocates their generosity<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Some coaches lose their generosity before they even start their business.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Some coaches lose their generosity before they even start their business.<\/strong>“<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n Something happened to them long ago\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026that caused them to close down, protect themselves, and get stingy<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n (NOTE: If you want to learn how to start your own coaching business, then check out this webinar<\/a><\/strong>, called “How to Start Your Coaching Business in 30 Days<\/a>“<\/a><\/strong> \u00a0During the webinar, I\u2019ll cover how to get your first paid clients fast and make it feel natural for you. their outreach, free sessions, or coaching isn\u2019t applauded<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n You might say, \u201cJeff, \u2018generosity\u2019 and \u2018selfishness\u2019… these are just concepts or emotions<\/span>\u2026 they really don\u2019t have any measurable impact<\/span>.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Not true.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In fact, there are 3 things we measure in our advanced coach \u201cImmersion\u201d Trainings:<\/p>\n\n\n\n First, we measure coaching SKILL.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Skill is obviously a critical aspect to master in coaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Skill is obviously a critical aspect to master in coaching.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n Second, we measure INTEGRITY.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Why measure Integrity?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Because if a coach isn\u2019t following through with their promises<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026or they aren\u2019t keeping their commitments<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026they\u2019re unlikely to have much power<\/span> to contribute to their clients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But we also measure GENEROSITY.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Throughout our advanced trainings, our coaching students face challenges that require tons of generosity<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n To provoke those coaches to take generous actions<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026that offer no immediate benefit to them<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n EVERYTHING you do ultimately gives you SOME benefit\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026but to delay gratification<\/span> until far into the future?<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026to do things that provide no selfish payoff<\/span> for you in the moment?<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026to offer massive benefit to someone else<\/span>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n That\u2019s the definition<\/span> of generosity<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Last week, I admitted what a \u2018selfish coach\u2019 I was\u2026<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026but also how generosity provides \u2018two track motivation\u2019 for epic progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n So, go ahead\u2026 be selfish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But if your generosity runs too low<\/span>\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026your coaching business is dead<\/span> on arrival.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n And I find that most coaches fail in their coaching<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026not because they\u2019re selfish<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026but due to lack of generosity<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The coaching business actually demands mucho generosity<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026more than most coaches feel comfortable giving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n When I offer these \u2018generosity challenges\u2019 in our advanced trainings\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026many students complete their \u2018generosity\u2019 tasks\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026and they go on to be some of our most successful students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n (Hal, for instance, went on a generosity crusade<\/strong><\/a> immediately after his graduation from Master Coach University.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n But I can\u2019t MAKE every student do it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n They have to CHOOSE generosity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And some students never even attempt those \u2018generosity\u2019 tasks<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Then they set out to grow their coaching business\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026and the results are not usually very good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n That coach starts working on growing their business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n They run a few coaching sessions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n They build a nice website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And then they wait for the \u2018applause\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n They wait for the money<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n They wait for some gratitude from their clients<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And when those things don\u2019t come quickly<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The little generosity they had\u2026 runs out<\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n What happens when they\u2019ve exhausted their generosity<\/span>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n All that\u2019s left is the \u2018selfish coach<\/strong><\/a>\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And they subconsciously ask the question:<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWhere is my damn parade?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n And when they feel that way, the answer is clear:<\/p>\n\n\n\n And somewhere, deep down, they quit<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Or slow down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Or sabotage<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Or start to make excuses<\/span> for not playing full out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And I find that most coaches fail in their coaching<\/span>\u2026not because they\u2019re selfish<\/span>\u2026but due to lack of generosity<\/span>.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n If you ever get into that mindset\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026that\u2019s the beginning of the end<\/span> of your coaching business.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Cut that line of thinking off at the knees\u2026 fast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n When your client sees no generosity in your coaching<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\nHave you ever lost<\/span> your generosity?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
