The Value of Your Coaching"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I recently worked with <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">a burnt out health coach<\/span> who complained\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u201cI\u2019m tired of working so hard and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">getting paid very little<\/span>.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u201cI\u2019ve had it with my clients&#8217; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">apathy <\/span>around coaching, and <\/em><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/coachestrainingblog.com\/becomeacoach\/coaching-to-avoid-no-in-discovery-sessions\/\"><strong><em>hearing \u2018no\u2019<\/em><\/strong><\/a><strong><em> and \u2018I\u2019ll get back to you\u2019 again and again.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u201cKris, I\u2019m <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">failing in my coaching practice<\/span>.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I told her,<strong><em> \u201cNot true.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>You\u2019ve only failed to <\/em><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/coachestrainingblog.com\/becomeacoach\/the-money-objection-to-coaching\/\"><strong><em>show clients that your coaching is valuable<\/em><\/strong><\/a><strong><em>.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She said,<strong><em> \u201cHow am I supposed to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">show the value<\/span>??\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ME:<strong><em> \u201cYour clients have to get a blood test in order to work with you, right?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">HER:<strong><em> \u201cYes, but they massively improve their health after they get the results back.\u201d<\/em><\/strong>ME:<strong><em> \u201cYeah, but <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">nobody wants to get stuck with a big needle<\/span>\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u2026especially <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">if they don\u2019t know why<\/span> they\u2019re doing it.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Embarrassed, she said\u2026 <strong><em>\u201cJeez I never thought about that\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u2026no wonder I don\u2019t have enough clients\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">That\u2019s<\/span> my problem!\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">real<\/span> problem?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>My client was in love with her coaching solution.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So in love with it, that she <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">didn\u2019t see her coaching<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the way her clients saw her coaching<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She was <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">blind to how her coaching was perceived<\/span> by potential clients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And, she\u2019s not alone\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Most coaches are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">blind to the \u201cmarket value\u201d of their coaching<\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong>Most coaches are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">blind to the \u201cmarket value\u201d of their coaching<\/span>.<\/strong>&#8220;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Think your coaching is valuable because\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>you have a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">genius solution<\/span>?<\/li><li>your clients NEED you?<\/li><li>you have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=dbQBLf6XdFI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>an expensive certification<\/strong><\/a>?<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The MARKET doesn\u2019t care<\/span> about any of those things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And, what\u2019s \u2018needle in the arm\u2019<\/span> to your client\u2026<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026something your client <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">more wants to AVOID<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026versus paying large sums of money for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>So, I\u2019m never surprised when coaches go to the \u2018coaching marketplace\u2019 and\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>They\u2019re <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Ignored<\/span>.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>They have to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">chase clients for low fees<\/span>.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Nobody respects or follows their advice.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>These same coaches try to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">solve those problems<\/span> by\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>blasting <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">offers on social platforms<\/span><\/strong><\/li><li><strong>getting an <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">impressive website<\/span><\/strong><\/li><li><strong>telling their personal \u201cstruggle story\u201d to everyone who\u2019ll listen<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>I made all those same mistakes for years.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>It was demoralizing.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>I wanted to quit, too.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>I don\u2019t want you to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">waste the same time<\/span> that I did.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>I don\u2019t want you to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">suffer<\/span> like most coaches do.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Eventually, I learned how to\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>discover what <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the client really wants<\/span>.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>give the client what is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">most valuable to them<\/span>.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Now it\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">easy<\/span> for me to get paying coaching clients.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">NOT because I\u2019m a better coach<\/span> than I was before\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u2026but, because I understand <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">how to communicate the value<\/span> of my coaching.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">NOT because I\u2019m a better coach<\/span> than I was before\u2026but, because I understand <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">how to communicate the value<\/span> of my coaching.<\/strong>&#8220;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So anyway\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I needed to help my client make that same change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I could tell she felt lousy about her mistake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So I said\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u201cI\u2019m proud of you for getting out of your own head.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u201cNow you\u2019re <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">seeing what your coaching looks like from the client\u2019s perspective<\/span>.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u201cSo, why should your clients pay you to stick a needle in their arm and suck their blood out?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">HER: <strong><em>\u201cBecause <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">their health will transform<\/span> as a result.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ME: <strong><em>\u201cRight! But <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">you gotta be more specific<\/span> about that transformation.You need to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">highlight specific benefits<\/span> that your client wants.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Right now, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">all they\u2019re thinking about is the cost<\/span> of coaching with you\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u2026not to mention that NEEDLE in their arm!\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u201cInstead, start the conversation with <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">what your client WANTS<\/span>.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">HER: <strong><em>\u201cWell, they certainly want to fix their health problem!\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ME: <strong><em>\u201cWhat health problem do they have that your coaching solves?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u201cWhat would be <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">worth hundreds or thousands of dollars per month<\/span> to them?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">HER: <strong><em>\u201cMigraines\u2026 they complain about migraines all the time\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ME: <strong><em>\u201cThat\u2019s huge! What can you do for their migraines?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">HER: <strong><em>\u201cI can practically eliminate them.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ME: <strong><em>\u201cIt sounds like you\u2019re the \u2018migraine minimizer\u2019 coach!\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">HER: <strong><em>\u201cYeah, but it still takes that blood test to get my client the result.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ME: <strong><em>\u201cThat\u2019s ok. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">They just need to appreciate the upside<\/span> in their migraines.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Then, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">they\u2019ll be much more tolerant<\/span> of that needle\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u2026AND <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">paying your fee<\/span>.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">HER: <strong><em>\u201cNow I see <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">how I need to talk about my coaching<\/span>\u2026\u2026so my clients will <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">actually enroll<\/span>.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The point?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>If you want to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">get enough paying coaching clients<\/span>\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u2026then communicate <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">why your coaching is valuable<\/span>\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u2026in a way <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">your client can appreciate and understand<\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Stop looking at the coaching you offer <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">from your own point of view<\/span>\u2026<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\u2026and start seeing it <\/strong><strong>from the client\u2019s point of view<\/strong><strong>.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You have to become <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">more than just an \u201corder taker\u201d<\/span> at the drive through window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The order taker at the drive through window <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">NEVER thinks about WHY the customer showed up<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They just think about what they\u2019ve been taught\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized is-style-default\"><a href=\"https:\/\/coachestrainingblog.com\/becomeacoach\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/drive-thru-service.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" https:\/\/coachestrainingblog.com\/becomeacoach\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/drive-thru-service-640x391.jpeg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 645px) 100vw, 645px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026flipping the burgers<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026dishing out the food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And NOTHING ELSE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">very myopic perspective<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">That order taker is BLIND<\/span> to their customer\u2019s motivations, wants, and concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not to mention, they don\u2019t get paid squat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Don\u2019t let yourself be a \u2018coaching order taker&#8217;.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Learn what your coaching is worth from the perspective of the marketplace\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026not just your personal opinion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If all you do as a coach\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">parrot what your coach training taught you<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026then <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">you\u2019ll stay blind <\/span>to your client\u2019s motives\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026at least when it comes to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the enrollment process<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your perspective needs to be broader, and more insightful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You\u2019ll need more empathy for your client if you want to reach them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Don\u2019t think too much <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">about YOUR perspective<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Think about your clients\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because THEY are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the ones buying your coaching<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">You<\/span> aren\u2019t buying your own coaching, right!?)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Clients decide<\/span> what a coaching service is worth, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not the coach<\/span>.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Do you remember the movie \u201cMary Poppins\u201d?In that movie, Mary sings <em>\u201cA Spoonful of Sugar Helps The Medicine Go Down.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized is-style-default\"><a href=\"https:\/\/coachestrainingblog.com\/becomeacoach\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Mary-Poppins.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" underline;\">Coaching<\/span> is the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">MEDICINE<\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Value<\/span> is the spoon of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">SUGAR<\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The \u201cSugar\u201d (what the client <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">wants<\/span>)&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u2026helps the \u201cMedicine\u201d (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">coaching<\/span>)&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u2026go \u201cdown\u201d (get <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">enrollments<\/span>).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Use that \u2018sugar\u2019 to convince prospective clients they\u2019ll receive the benefits FIRST.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ONLY AFTER your client <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">understands the value of your coaching<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026should you enroll them in coaching (give them that \u2018medicine\u2019).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized is-style-default\"><a order!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It takes WORK to do this effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Don\u2019t rely on your potential client to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">automatically value<\/span> your coaching.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s not their job to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">figure out that coaching is valuable<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026it\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">your job<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When you\u2019re communicating the value of your coaching, use words the client can easily understand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Think about\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>What do they see as the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">problem<\/span>?<\/li><li>What is the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">impact<\/span> of that problem on their life?<\/li><li>What do they see as the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">solution<\/span>?<\/li><li>What can you do to help them avoid the problem?<\/li><li>What can you do to provide <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">faster \/ easier results, with less effort<\/span>?<\/li><li>What life do they believe is possible for them on the other side of their problem?<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You\u2019ll come up with tons of answers to these questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But not every benefit or motivation is created equal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sort the best ideas so you can use them with your clients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stop being a hidden gem!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Use your new <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">mastery of VALUE<\/span> to get more clients excited to talk to
