Do you want to know the best way to build your coaching business?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fastest way?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The easiest way?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The least expensive way?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s what I wanted, too\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And, here\u2019s the problem\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People would tell me the answer\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

…and at first, I was happier than a dog with a new bone\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Little<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

…but their answer was never enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And eventually, I realized the truth\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking for the perfect answer in your coaching business is exactly how to fail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I know from personal experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m a recovering perfectionist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One evening when I was in high school, I ran sobbing to my father,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m failing out of school!\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I can\u2019t even remember why I was so beside myself\u2026 I just felt like I wasn\u2019t doing enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One week later, I brought home my report card with all A\u2019s\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

…and a single B\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why was I such a drama queen?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because I thought anything less than perfect was a ‘fail’.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And I hate to admit that I still felt that way only a few years back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In school, we\u2019re taught that the \u2018right answer\u2019 is the key to success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, when you decide to start your coaching business, your brain wants to find the perfect answer again (just like in school)\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But building a coaching business, and getting \u2018A\u2019s\u2019, are two entirely different skills.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In your coaching business, there is no \u2018perfect answer\u2019, so searching for perfection just wastes your time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The game of your coaching business is about trying and testing your ideas as efficiently as possible so you get across the finish line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is why so many great coaches are poor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They are trying to get \u2018A\u2019s on a wild-west racetrack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Problem With Perfection = Doubt<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you want to build something you\u2019ve never built before (like a new coaching business), there are no solutions for your brain to reference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, your brain doesn\u2019t know whether the journey is going to be safe or not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, doubts arise.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And, when in doubt, your brain defaults to fear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Your brain looks to the past for answers, and, after spending so much time in school\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

…it\u2019s normal to expect \u2018academic\u2019 thinking to help us do other things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the fatal flaw in applying \u2018academic\u2019 thinking to your coaching business\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

…is that you\u2019ll think you need to find the right way,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

…the best way,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

…Dare I say, the \u201cPerfect\u201d way to coach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

…The \u201cPerfect\u201d way to start your coaching business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You\u2019ll feel uncertain as long as you think there is a \u2018right answer\u2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And when you can\u2019t find one\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You get \u2018stuck\u2019 (as coaches like to say).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The truth is, you\u2019re NOT STUCK.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You\u2019re only \u2018stuck ON\u2019 finding the \u2018right answer\u2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

But, because you can\u2019t find the \u2018right answer\u2019 (remember, it doesn\u2019t exist?), you\u2019ll probably blame yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You might tell yourself that something is wrong with YOU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

…That you aren\u2019t enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

…That you aren\u2019t ready.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

…That you need a website (or another certification).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

…(Insert your own go-to excuse or self-doubt here).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Epic stuckness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bottom line\u2026 you can either stay in the same place without taking action toward your dream of having a coaching business\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While you watch other coaches enjoy success…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Or…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

…you can acknowledge and accept that your feelings of uncertainty are completely normal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then you can embrace uncertainty\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

…instead of hiding behind mountains of busy work so you look like you\u2019re making progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
