If so, making a living as a life coach might just be your ideal job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this article, I want to share tips, actionable advice, and skills to build a successful life coaching business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, let\u2019s jump right in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why do You Want to Become a Life Coach?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First, knowing why you want to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">become a life coach<\/span> is a good start.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Oftentimes people are unaware of what life coaches really do.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What really made you choose this profession?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Is it to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Help others achieve their goals?<\/li><li>Create professional and personal growth plans?<\/li><li>Help others attain work and life balance?<\/li><li>Help others go beyond their limiting beliefs?<\/li><li>Seeing others happy with what they can accomplish?<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whatever it is, clients will want to know more about you before sending you checks and determining if you are a good fit for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Naturally, we are curious about each other\u2019s story and expertise. Having these answers ready will build credibility and make good impressions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Figure out the \u201cwhy\u201d before you decide to <strong>become a life coach<\/strong>. The answers are going to be the driving force behind helping others transform their lives.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Get Certified<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After knowing your \u201cwhy\u201d, This might be the next most important step. Without it, clients will have a hard time trusting you. Make this a priority because it\u2019ll save a lot of time when you are out there marketing your services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Market Demand<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Is there a market for your services?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Is there profit potential?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Look for other life coaches in your niche. Creep on their websites and social media platforms to get a feel for who they are serving and how they\u2019re marketing themselves. It\u2019ll also tell you a lot about the size of your market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Your Skills<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your skills, hobbies, interests, background, and anything you are good at will come in handy when you are deciding on a niche.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here are examples of how you could pick your niche:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>You overcame your shyness and you\u2019re confident you can help others do the same. You can be a <strong>confidence coach<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Your marriage went through a rocky phase and you managed to save it. You can be a <strong>marital coach<\/strong>.<\/li><li>You\u2019ve read all the existing books about relationships and love. You can be a <strong>dating coach<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you still don\u2019t know how to choose a niche, it\u2019s okay. You can always change it down the line if it\u2019s not for you. You will learn as you go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Learn to be confidential<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Learning confidentiality is a key factor for developing client-coach relationships and building trust.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your clients will need to feel at ease to confide in you if you want them to talk freely and openly about their lives.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For that to happen it is important to make clients comfortable from day one by telling them that everything they speak about will remain confidential.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Breaching the confidentiality relationship will harm your business and reputation as a life coach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the ICF, a good number of clients send complaints that touch on privacy.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>There are cases when it is okay not to be subject to confidentiality:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Discussing illegal and criminal activities&nbsp;<\/li><li>When clients are a danger to themselves<\/li><li>Discussing unethical or inappropriate behavior<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/coachfederation.org\/blog\/private-and-confidential#:~:text=Confidentiality%20refers%20to%20the%20coach's,to%20you%20as%20a%20coach.\">Cases<\/a> vary depending on the context and the situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Develop Your Listening Skills<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An important part of your job as a life coach is to listen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Clients are going to disclose insecurities, struggles, personal issues, and everything that\u2019s holding them back from getting to where <strong>THEY<\/strong> want.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thus, developing listening skills is something you should practice and hone long before you become a life coach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How to Develop Your Listening Skills:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>You can practice it with friends and family by imagining they are clients that want to overcome a certain issue. It\u2019s also a powerful tool to encourage referrals.<\/li><li>Prepare to be active on social media platforms.<\/li><li>Offer free coaching consultations to prospective coaching clients in the beginning to hook them on your service.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Offer free templates, definitive guides, and actionable advice.<\/li><li>Create testimonials and place them on your website (this is HUGE because it shows prospective clients that you can really help them).&nbsp;<\/li><li>Have CTAs (Calls To Action) all over your website.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Don\u2019t let this list freak you out.
