You’ll want to keep the length down so it will not take too much of your time. The ideal call duration is 10 minutes.

To fully utilize that 10 minutes, spend a few minutes establishing what you’re going to do during the call before ringing your client or prospect. Remember, the purpose is to position the call so the client or prospect knows what to expect.

Then ring them up and when they answer your call, briefly introduce yourself. Gently remind them that they’ve booked the call and confirm with them if they’ve got the time for it.

Next, tell them that you’re going to ask them a few questions. The questions will help you gauge if you can help them or not. If you can’t, politely thank them for taking the time to answer the call and try recommending someone who is a better fit.

Throughout the 10-minute call, Moore stresses that it’s important to stay chilled and not get too excited so as not to sound like salespeople or friends and family.

You do not want them to immediately brand you as someone who is out to sell them something.

Remember, a triage call is not a sales call but all about qualifying prospects to see if they are a good fit for you. The selling stuff would come later.

Therefore, during a triage call, Moore recommends to slow down a little bit when you speak and use pauses to your advantage. By using pauses, you’ll not sound like you’re going to bombard the prospects with questions or you’re reading from a script.

Speak professionally, yet in a natural tone within the 10-minute window. It’s that simple!
What are you waiting for? Try the Taki Moore triage call now!

Would you like an endless stream of new coaching clients?
