This brings us to the very first, and perhaps most essential qualification. What qualification do you need to be a coaching expert? Experience \u2013 your climb to the very top begins and ends with experience.<\/p>\n<h3>You Can&#8217;t be a Coaching Expert Without Experience<\/h3>\n<p>You may have the most intuition and innate coaching skill in the world, but you won&#8217;t be an expert without experience \u2013 lots of it. Coaching is all about practicing your skills, expanding your knowledge, and learning how to adapt to different situations and circumstances.<\/p>\n<p>This doesn&#8217;t mean you can&#8217;t be a good coach when you were start out \u2013 your first client isn&#8217;t going to be paying for bad coaching. However, expert status comes only with time and experience.<\/p>\n<h3>Do You Have the Character to be a Coach?<\/h3>\n<p>All excellent coaches have the following three character traits in common. Does this sound like you?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u2022 High level of self-awareness<br \/>\n\u2022 A deep level of care, respect, and regard for people<br \/>\n\u2022 A sincere interest in helping others.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you don&#8217;t bring these three qualities to the table when you begin coaching, you probably won&#8217;t even be a good coach. These qualities must define you and control your life for you to get to the top of the coaching profession.<\/p>\n<h3>An Understanding that Coaching is Both an Art and a Science<\/h3>\n<p>You can&#8217;t ask the question \u2013 what qualification do you need to be a coaching expert &#8211; without thinking about coaching as both and art and a science.<\/p>\n<p>Traits of an artist:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Creative \u2013 must be able to see outside the normal confines of a situation.<br \/>\n\u2022 Original \u2013 able to take what you have learned and step outside the usual conventions to create new and dynamic solutions<br \/>\n\u2022 Flexible \u2013 must be able to adapt to varying circumstances and see different aspects of issues.<br \/>\n\u2022 Motivated \u2013 have an extreme need to perform and reach perfection<\/p>\n<p>Traits of a scientist:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u2022 Educated \u2013 there is a world of knowledge about coaching techniques and skills \u2013 and you must possess this knowledge<br \/>\n\u2022 Curiosity \u2013 an urge to discover and understand leads you to solutions and outcomes for each and every client.<br \/>\n\u2022 Observant \u2013 you must possess extraordinary skills of observation in order to see exactly what your client is saying<br \/>\n\u2022 Creativity \u2013 this one is on both lists because artists and a scientists need to possess a healthy dose of creativity to come up with answers that work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You must combine the skills needed to be a scientist with the skills needed to be an artist to be a great coach.<\/p>\n<h3>An Expert Coach Understands Communication<\/h3>\n<p>Coaching is all about change, and positive change requires communication. To be effective, communication needs to be:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u2022 Clear<br \/>\n\u2022 Concise<br \/>\n\u2022 Consistent<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Excellent coaches think of communication as a transaction between two people \u2013 just like a contract it involves two parties. Coaching is not a one-way street \u2013 the coaching telling the client. Communication is a two-way street \u2013 it involves verbal communication, non-verbal communication, listening, and feedback.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">What qualifications do you need to<\/span> be a coaching expert?
