is focus.\u00a0 How do you get the focus you need to get your coaching career<\/strong><\/a> started?\u00a0 When most people think about setting a vision, they think about \u201cThe Secret\u201d and the \u201cLaw of Attraction.\u201d\u00a0 They think that if they know what they want, it will come to them.\u00a0 The problem is that if you don\u2019t know where you are, you won\u2019t be able to figure out where you want to be.\u00a0 So what you need to become a coach<\/strong> isn\u2019t just to know where you want to be.\u00a0 You also need to know where you are right now in your coaching career<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

A Starting Point for Your Coaching Career<\/h3>\n

If what you need to become a coach<\/strong> is focus, why is it so important to know where you are in your coaching career<\/strong> before you start?\u00a0 What if you\u2019re lost and stranded in the desert.\u00a0 Suddenly an airplane drops a map that shows an oasis.\u00a0 You know where the oasis is now, but what\u2019s the one thing you need to know to get there?\u00a0 You need to know where you are on the map.\u00a0 No matter how detailed the map is, most likely you\u2019ll be walking in the wrong direction unless you know where you are starting from.<\/p>\n

Taking Inventory of Your Coaching Career<\/h3>\n

What you need to become a coach<\/span> is to take a thorough inventory of where you are in your coaching career<\/span>.\u00a0 To do this, answer the following questions.\u00a0 Take some time for this and write it in your journal.\u00a0 This is important information.<\/p>\n

  • What are your strengths?<\/li>\n
  • What results have you created in the past?<\/li>\n
  • What results have you produced for yourself, and others?<\/li>\n
  • What are your weaknesses?<\/li>\n
  • What are the opportunities in your coaching business?<\/li>\n
  • What are the threats to the growth of your coaching career?\u00a0 With your clients, yourself, your environment?<\/li>\n
  • Are you currently meeting your goals and expectations? Why or why not?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Gaining A Clear Picture of What You Need to Become a Coach<\/h3>\n

    Now what you need to become a coach<\/span> who knows where you are in your coaching career<\/span> is to get a clear picture about how others see you.\u00a0 Ask at least 3 members of your community the following questions:<\/p>\n

    • What are my strengths?<\/li>\n
    • What are my weaknesses?<\/li>\n
    • What does everyone know about me?<\/li>\n
    • What can I be counted on for?<\/li>\n
    • What can I never be counted on for?<\/li>\n
    • Is there anything else you would like to tell me or anything that you have never told me that you would like to now?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      What You Need to Become a Coach in the End: Feedback<\/h3>\n

      What often holds us back in life is that we usually ask these questions.\u00a0 We cave into the fear that we\u2019re not enough.\u00a0 What you need to become a coach is to realize that whatever people say, it won\u2019t kill us.\u00a0 As we start taking an honest inventory of where we are, we start to become open to feedback from ourselves and others.\u00a0 Then we can really move forward with our coaching career.<\/p>\n
