What\u2019s the\u00a0definition of coaching<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0and what do you\u00a0need to become a life coach<\/a><\/strong><\/span>? According to Wikipedia, the\u00a0definition of coaching<\/strong><\/span><\/span>\u00a0is \u201cA method of directing, instructing and training a person or group of people, with the aim to achieve some goal or develop specific skills.\u201d But to me, the\u00a0<\/span>definition of coaching<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>and what you\u00a0<\/span>need to become a life coach<\/strong><\/span><\/span>\u00a0is <\/span>much more than that.<\/p>\n

Although Nobody is in “Need” to Become a Life Coach, The Definition of Coaching is About Commitment<\/h3>\n

What\u2019s my\u00a0<\/span>definition of coaching<\/span><\/span><\/span>? It\u2019s about being totally committed to helping someone to get a result. And not just any result, but one that is truly valuable to your client and your client\u2019s needs at that time. You\u00a0<\/span>need to become a life coach<\/strong><\/span><\/span>\u00a0wh<\/span>o is committed to going beyond where we are comfortable and what seems possible, and lead others to do the same.<\/p>\n

You Need to Become a Life Coach Who Does More Than Solve Problems: The Greater Definition of Coaching<\/h3>\n

Did you notice that there was nothing about solving problems in that\u00a0definition of coaching<\/span><\/span><\/span>? Too many times we fail to really make a stand for our clients, and we settle for solving problems. Sometimes that can be valuable, but we\u00a0need to become a life coach<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0who knows the difference between a big problem which is an obstacle and a little problem which is a distraction. If a problem needs to be addressed, handle it quickly and then move on to getting a result. You don\u2019t want to break rapport by telling someone their problem isn\u2019t important enough to work on, but you can ask questions to re-frame the problem and get an idea of how significant it is. They key here is to clarify, and not to take the bait and run with it when there are “bigger fishes to fry”.<\/p>\n

So what is your\u00a0definition of coaching<\/a><\/span>? And what do you\u00a0need to become a life coach<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0who lives up to your own standards?<\/p>\n
