The Formula For a Successful Life Coaching Business: How to Get Coaching Clients To Rain From the Sky

August 24th, 2009

Are you running your life coaching business, or is it running you? Do you really know how to get coaching clients, or are you just hoping they will find you? There really is no secret to success in building a life coaching business. It’s just that most coaches won’t do what they need to do, because it looks like a lot of work. But if you’re willing to do what most won’t , you can live the life of your dreams. Here is the formula for how to get coaching clients:

The First Key to Your Life Coaching Business: Lead Generation

e

There are three keys to how to get coaching clients. The first is lead generation. In order to have a successful life coaching business, you’ll need to spend 2 hours a day generating leads. The best way to get leads is to offer people valuable information or cool stuff in exchange for their contact information. The layout of your page won’t get them to give you their info; it’s your copy and message that will get them to stay. This includes flyers, Facebook events, or squeeze pages for an event or product. This might take you 10 hours a week to achieve and the content has to be your very best stuff.

The Next Key to Your Life Coaching Business: Tell People About Your Offer

e

The next step in how to get coaching clients is to spend one hour a day telling people about your offer. This includes running free sessions with the intent to enroll clients or a group call with a call to action that will create sales for your life coaching business. You’ll probably spend 5 hours a week in this area.

The Last Key to Your Life Coaching Business: Add Content to Your Products or Services

e

The final step in how to get coaching clients is to spend about ½ hour a day adding content to your products or services. Practicing coaching, taking classes or seminars, and talking to your mentor do not count as time spent in growing your life coaching business. These are extracurricular activities; like a class picnic or field trip. They are fun, but you will not get paid for time spent in these areas. It’s unfortunate, because this is where we all want to hang out and play the game of being a coach.

The formula for how to get coaching clients is a ratio of 8:4:2. You will spend the bulk of your time generating leads, half that time marketing to those leads, and the smallest portion of your time creating products. Unfortunately it’s the opposite of what most coaches do, and the reason that so few coaches ever end up having a successful life coaching business. So, when are you going to get started?
