How to transform your The Business And Practice Of Coaching | Image by safeblogshopperYou want to make the business and practice of coaching your life’s work, right? You’ve done coach’s training. You’ve actually coached people. You’ve made great strides in the practice part of your coaching career. But how about the business side? Have you begun planning that out in a serious way? What do you need to do in the next week, month, year? And how will you see to it that you do those things?

Every Business Requires A Vision

In many ways, the business and practice of coaching is no different from any other kind of business. You need a vision first. You need to know where you want to end up so you can figure out the steps to get you there. Take an hour or three. Close your eyes, relax and just dream of what your business and your life will look like when it’s exactly what you want. Use your dream as a template, then fill in the key areas of focus and the key strategies within those areas that you need to do to make it happen. What aspects of the business and practices of coaching do you need to learn, to get comfortable with, to get help with? And on what timetable?

Transform The Business And Practice Of Coaching From A Vision To A Goal

So now you have a picture of your ideal version of the business and practice of coaching. Now comes the hard part. Remember those key strategies you decided on? That business of yours will bite the dust like so many others unless you actually take action on those strategies. So make the commitments you need to make, get them on your calendar and get on with them. This is something no one can do for you. A coach will help with prioritizing and with accountability, but it’s still you who has to take the actions.

Staying Motivated

Establish some rituals to help you. A morning ritual of envisioning what your life will be like and who you will have become in the world of the business and practice of coaching is a great motivator. An evening ritual of writing down your accomplishments for the day, big ones and small, and praising yourself and patting yourself on the back for a job well done is another. You’ll be amazed at how the power of these rituals to keep you motivated will grow as you do them regularly.

Don’t be one of the many would-be coaches who never make their business a success. Have your vision, but make sure you also commit to taking massive action to make that vision a reality.
