Relationship Coach Training 101: How To Be a Dating Coach Who Uses the DISC Assessment

Being a relationship coach doesn’t have to be all about helping people with the woes of their marriage.  If it sounds like more fun to be a dating coach, you can go far beyond what a ‘matchmaker’ provides by using the DISC Assessment as a tool to help your clients find their ideal type.  There are patterns that can be quickly used to become a relationship coach who can provide strategy to help people find relationships with a greater probability of success.  If you are looking to be a dating coach, here are some patterns to help get you started.

Using the DISC Assessment as a Relationship Coach

.
To be a dating coach who understands the basics of the DISC Assessment, you’ll need to understand what each letter stands for.  ‘D’ stands for Dominance.  Someone who has a high ‘D’ will tend to be goal oriented, dominant, and someone who rises to challenges.  ‘I’ stands for Influence.  Someone with a high ‘I’ will tend to be people oriented, trusting of people, optimistic and social.  ‘S’ stands for Steadiness.  Someone with a high ‘S’ will tend to be consistent, persistent, and keep things stable.  ‘C’ stands for Compliance.  A high ‘C’ will tend to follow the rules and be very detail oriented.  All these behavioral characteristics have their strengths and weaknesses, and as a relationship coach you can help your clients understand which qualities will best complement their own style.

Using DISC to Be a Dating Coach Who Can Predict Successful Partners

.
How can you use this information to be a dating coach?  For example, a man with a high ‘D’ needs someone who will let him run the show.  Otherwise there will always be a power struggle.  This can be a woman with a lower ‘D’ or a woman who has a high ‘C’ and high ‘S’.  A woman with a high ‘D’ and high ‘I’ needs to find a low key, introverted male.  A man with a low ‘D’ will ideally needs to find a woman with a high ‘I’, ‘S’, or ‘C’ combination so he can run the show.  Or he can take on the more feminine role with a woman who has a high ‘D’.  A woman who has a high ‘S’ and ‘C’ combination has a little more variety in the men she will be able to date.  A man with a high ‘D’ might be too much, but other combinations will usually work out well.  A strong understanding of the DISC Assessments will help you in all aspects of your relationship coach practice.

The Personality Type that Needs a Little More from their Relationship Coach

.
Anyone with the high ‘SC’ combination will want comfort and stability.  They really look for that in all areas of their life.  To be a dating coach for someone with this behavioral style you have to communicate with them that relationships aren’t comfortable and stable.  Be a relationship coach who helps them realize that if they want a relationship, they will need to experience grown, and that will be uncomfortable.  Help them learn to share their needs for comfort and security with their family or friends.  They may initially resist, but when they follow through they will notice that they can increase the depth of their relationships.

Behavior Recognition is Key if You Want to Be a Dating Coach With Good Business

.
The key is to match behavioral styles that complement each other.  Finding complementary behavioral styles is a big key to intimacy.  If you decide to be a dating coach you’ll also have plenty of business for your relationship coach practice.
