How do you increase your life coaching clients’ motivation over the long term?  Not just through weekly accountability, but with techniques that will really change their lives?  One NLP life coach technique you can use is reward systems.  This is a simple NLP life coach technique that will constantly increase your life coaching client’s motivation and decrease their tendency to procrastinate.  The key is to help your life coaching clients consistently associate pleasure with taking the right actions and using the right states of mind.  This NLP life coach technique will make their brain automatically drive them towards the behaviors they want to increase.

The way this NLP life coach technique works is to use rewards for any progress (internal or external).  Make sure your life coaching clients set up rewards for any and every step in the right direction that they make.  These rewards don’t have to be big to be effective.  For instance they can make an ‘x’ every time they make a call or pat themselves on the back and say ‘great job’ every time they break through fear or procrastination.  They might even choose to use a Tiger Woods style ‘fist pump’ for bigger wins and an empathic “YES!” while they do so.

There is also a NLP life coach technique to use when you or your life coaching clients achieve something big or experience a big internal breakthrough.  Have a celebration!  First find a way to reward yourself.  This could be as simple as smiling or as complicated as taking a cruise for three days.  Next, take action on the reward.  Notice when you start to feel good as you reward yourself.  At the moment you feel the best, ask yourself the following questions:  What am I celebrating?  Why is that worth celebrating?  Why was it an important goal?  How does that make me feel?  What did I do to achieve that goal?  Who have I become in the process?  Who will I become in the future now?
